The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), authorized on Wednesday (1st) the start of construction of the Sports Complex in Rio Maria, in the south of the state. This initiative is part of the program Sports and Leisure Squares Throughout Pará, which foresees the implementation of 40 sports facilities in municipalities from different regions. In this first phase, 20 cities will be benefited.

In addition to Rio Maria, construction has already been authorized in Santa Luzia do Pará, Vitória do Xingu, Garrafão do Norte, Ulianópolis, Paragominas, and Irituia. The goal is to increase the population's access to sports, leisure, and community integration.

Modern and complete structure

The standard project for the complexes includes a synthetic grass soccer field, covered multipurpose court, sand court, skate park, outdoor gym, walking track, and community kiosks, providing adequate and safe spaces for sports practices and social activities.

Representing Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan, the State Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Cássio Andrade, highlighted the relevance of the project.

“I am here with Mayor Márcia Ferreira to sign the service order for this square that will transform the city of Rio Maria. It will be a modern space, with a synthetic grass field, covered multipurpose court, sand court, outdoor gym, skate park, walking track, and community kiosk. A project that will promote sports and leisure in our beloved Rio Maria,” said the secretary.

Mayor Márcia Ferreira emphasized the partnership with the State Government and the impact of the delivery for the population.

“Today is a unique moment for Rio Maria. We thank Governor Helder Barbalho, Vice Governor Hana Ghassan, and Secretary Cássio Andrade. This square will transform the quality of life of our people, bringing more leisure, sports, and well-being,” she declared.

The community also celebrated the initiative. For housewife Eva Parentes, the complex will improve the routine of families.

“It will be very good because exercise brings joy and health. It will help not only children but also adults. We will have a beautiful space to practice sports, socialize, and live a healthier life. We can only thank the Government,” said the resident.

Investment and timeline

The investment in the Sports Complex of Rio Maria is R$ 1,640,808.58, with resources from the State Government, via Seel. The works will begin simultaneously in the municipalities benefited, with an estimated completion time of 12 months.
