The Pará Center for Hemotherapy and Hematology Foundation (Hemopa), in partnership with the Walter Bezerra Falcão State School of Elementary and Secondary Education, held a blood donation campaign in Ananindeua, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, this Tuesday (30).

The action mobilized students, staff, and the local community around the importance of solidarity and the voluntary act of donating blood. The structure set up by the Hemopa team enabled safe and quality collection, reinforcing the strategic stocks of the blood bank, essential for the care of patients in hospitals throughout the State.

The initiative is part of Hemopa's calendar of external actions

The initiative is part of the calendar of external campaigns carried out by the Foundation, which has increasingly sought to bring voluntary donation closer to communities, facilitating donor access and encouraging the participation of new volunteers. Each collected bag can benefit up to four people in different clinical situations, such as surgeries, emergencies, and treatments for hematological diseases.

According to Marcela Ribeiro, the social worker from the Donor Recruitment Management, the mobilization was the result of continuous work with the school throughout the year. “We are very happy to see the involvement of the entire school community in this campaign. This result shows people's awareness and the importance of working together to maintain the blood bank and continue caring for patients,” she highlighted.

Among the participants, student Ana Vitória, a voluntary donor, shared that she felt fulfilled by participating in the campaign. “Knowing that donating a little of my blood can save a life is very good. It’s a simple way to help someone I might not even know,” she said.

The school director, Ketima Macias, emphasized the institution's role as a partner in the project. “It’s an important action to raise awareness among young people about blood donation and show that this gesture saves lives. This year, in addition to the students, we also saw families and the community embracing the cause, which made the campaign a success,” she evaluated.
