In the month of Red September, dedicated to raising awareness and preventing cardiovascular diseases, the Hospital de Clínicas Gaspar Vianna (HC) celebrates important advances in assisting the population. In January, the hospital's new hemodynamics room was inaugurated, equipped with a state-of-the-art angiographer — the most modern in Pará. The modernization has already resulted in a 30% increase in cardiac procedures, rising from 2,025 from January to August 2024 to 2,630 in the same period this year.

The hemodynamics department is responsible for fundamental and minimally invasive procedures, such as catheterization, angioplasty with stents, pacemaker implantation, and corrections of congenital malformations.

For cardiologist Rodrigo Souza, head of hemodynamics, the investment ensures more access and quality. “This is quite significant because it puts our patients from the Unified Health System on equal footing with what is offered in the private network. The modernization has also expanded the electrophysiology service, which increased from about 15 to 150 procedures per year, in addition to benefiting care for congenital heart diseases and coronary emergencies, such as acute myocardial infarction,” he detailed.

Antônio Maria Gonçalves, 83 years old, from Ananindeua, receives care at HC after the placement of four stents

The retiree Antônio Maria Maia Gonçalves, 83 years old, from Ananindeua, has been hospitalized for 14 days after having four stents placed. He reports that he was already feeling very fatigued and had difficulties even with small activities, but today he feels more confident. “Now I am waiting for the team's evaluation to define the next step. As for the care, I have nothing to complain about: doctors, nurses, and the entire team treated me very well,” he emphasized.

From Marapanim, Raimundo Alves, 61 years old, has been hospitalized for over a month after suffering a heart attack with renal complications. He thanks the HC team for their dedication: “I was well treated from the very first moment. I even prayed to God for the team because their work is not easy. Here I received all the necessary assistance and I am continuing my recovery.”

Reference in cardiology in Pará
With two hemodynamics rooms in operation, HC has expanded the availability of schedules and procedures, reducing waiting times and ensuring more access to specialized treatment. The service operates in four major areas: coronary cardiology, pediatric and congenital cardiology, endovascular procedures, and electrophysiology.

With investment in cutting-edge technology and a qualified multidisciplinary team, the Hospital de Clínicas Gaspar Vianna reaffirms its mission to save lives and strengthen the public health network, offering the people of Pará modern, safe, and humane care.
