The Government of Pará, through the Housing Company of Pará (Cohab), guarantees the payment of the housing assistance benefit for families relocated from areas where urban infrastructure works are taking place within the projects of the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC).

The benefit also extends to other demands through Technical Cooperation agreements signed by Cohab with the State Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense, the State Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration (Seap), the Military Police of Pará, and the State Secretariat of Public Works (Seop). In total, the housing assistance serves 1,131 families from the PAC, 243 military police officers, and 34 penal police officers, totaling 1,408 families. The money is for rent payment.

For the president of the Housing Company of Pará, Manoel Pioneiro, maintaining the benefit is essential for relocated families to ensure they can pay for housing while waiting for the delivery of the new housing unit, as happened with the families from the Curtume area, who are now in their new apartments in the Santo Antônio residential complex. “It is a resource allocation of over R$ 700 thousand monthly destined to families by the Government Helder and Hana as a way to ensure more tranquility when paying rent for these people who needed to be relocated for the continuation of PAC works or for security personnel to leave residences in life-threatening areas,” pointed out Pioneiro.

The housing assistance for those relocated from PAC works is a temporary benefit granted to families that need to be relocated due to urban interventions, such as infrastructure projects, drainage, or urbanization of areas.

This assistance aims to cover rental costs while the family awaits a definitive housing solution, such as the construction of new homes. The measure serves to support affected families and guarantee their right to dignified housing during the resettlement process.

Edilene Fonseca, housewife

Housewife Edilene Fonseca, who received her apartment in the Santo Antônio residential complex, says that the housing assistance was decisive for waiting for the delivery of the new apartment in the Santo Antônio residential complex. “I am a housewife, I have no income, so having this assistance was important because it ensured that I could pay rent, I am happier now especially because I received my apartment,” she detailed.

Rosângela Miranda, housewife

Rosângela Miranda, who is also a housewife, says that she received housing assistance since the beginning of the expropriation of the Curtume area. “The wait was worth it, I am very grateful to Governor Helder who supported us and today delivers our apartments,” she detailed.

The Santo Antônio residential complex was delivered last Saturday, containing 400 housing units with two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a social bathroom.
