Visits to the Bolonha Water Treatment Plant strengthen awareness about water use and bring the community closer to the treatment process
In 2025, more than 1,090 people have already visited the largest water treatment plant in Pará

Throughout this year, the Bolonha Water Treatment Plant (ETA), the largest treated water production facility in Pará, has welcomed a diverse and significant audience of visitors. From January to September, more than 1,090 people have visited the site.
The visits aim to showcase the process of transforming raw water into treated water and reinforce the importance of sustainable use of water resources. According to Cosanpa's Social Programs Advisor, Anastácia Almeida, the growing demand highlights the public's interest in closely understanding the plant's operations.
"We have already received students from elementary school, high school, undergraduate, graduate, master's programs, and also from technical courses. This movement shows how much society wants to understand the value of water and the effort that exists to ensure its quality," she emphasized.

Currently, the Bolonha ETA operates with an average production of 4,600 liters of water per second, reaching up to 6,400 l/s at full capacity. The treatment follows the conventional model, with stages such as pre-oxidation, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, pH correction, and disinfection.
According to Cosanpa's Water Production Manager, Leticia Santos, the work goes beyond supply. "This structure ensures quality water for the population, but it also highlights the need for collective awareness. Avoiding waste is recognizing the effort of specialized teams, constant investments, and technologies employed in the process," she stressed.
The experience has also impacted professionals in the field, such as environmental and sanitary engineer Luciana Otoni de Souza, a teacher at Sectet, who accompanied her students on a visit.

"The welcoming space was comfortable, the presentation was very enlightening, and the Cosanpa technicians answered all questions. At the end, the students received participation kits and left enthusiastic about the learning experience. I recommend that other teachers visit the space, as it is a true game-changer in valuing water resources and sustainable use in our homes," she stated.
