Secretary Giovanni Queiroz, head of Sedap, opened the meeting and emphasized the importance of the Açaí Fund to boost the chain in the State

The expansion and efficiency of açaí production and commercialization through the implementation of actions and projects aimed at improving the chain is one of the purposes of the State Fund for Supporting the Development of the Açaí Productive Chain (Açaí Fund), which is being constructed with the participation of representatives from public and private institutions, as well as civil society.

The second meeting of the group, to finalize the Bill that will be sent to the State Government and subsequently to the Legislative Assembly of Pará (Alepa), was held this Friday (26) at the headquarters of the Secretary of Agricultural Development and Fisheries (Sedap). The result was progress in closing the draft, which should be completed at the next meeting with a date to be defined. The head of the secretary, Giovanni Queiroz, opened the meeting and highlighted the importance of the Fund built with the participation of representatives from the entire chain: from the riverside and artisanal harvester to the industry.

For Secretary Giovanni Queiroz, the creation of the Açaí Fund will enable the development of actions aimed at the açaí culture chain, especially for the riverside producers who cultivate the fruit. "The condition to form it for good management and better use of açaí; we have açaí gaining space worldwide and we have the capacity to supply this market well; 90% of the açaí consumed comes from Pará," he said.

The manager of Sedap praised the integration of the group responsible for building the fund and highlighted the fact that it is composed of different public and private institutions. The group includes the participation of the offices of deputies Eliel Faustino and Carlos Bordalo, who represent Alepa.

"We are pleased to see at this moment an enthusiastic group, already in the final phase of the legislation for the establishment of the fund, with the participation of two parliamentarians from our Alepa. Governor Helder Barbalho also wants this to happen, as it is in the interest of the State to boost the economy in this productive arrangement of açaí," he said.

Achievement - For the coordinator of good açaí practices, Marivaldo Ferreira, assigned to the Directorate of Fairs and Markets of Sedap, the construction of the Açaí Fund represents a great achievement for the açaí productive chain. It is a way to concentrate and manage resources and provide opportunities for producers and agroindustry, those who work with export and those who sell in the legalized commerce. "It will greatly help in the verticalization of açaí, improving more in the field and in production through technical assistance and financing; for the entire State, it is a great gain, as it will generate jobs and income and will strengthen this sector more and more," he emphasized.

The coordinator also highlighted the scope of the group, which involves the entire açaí chain, participating in the conception and realization of the fund. "It starts at the end, from production, and ends in external commercialization and not just local, it also encompasses our agroindustries that have contributed significantly to the development of this sector, greatly improving the living conditions of the producers themselves."
