The Regional Hospital of Tapajós (HRT), in Itaituba, in the southwest of Pará, concludes, this Friday (26), the first edition of the elderly caregiver course. The training started last Monday (22) and gathered 25 participants from the community. The initiative was coordinated by the Care Management in partnership with the hospital's Humanization sector.

For five days, a multiprofessional team composed of nurses, nursing technicians, physiotherapists, nutritionists, social workers, and psychologists conducted the modules, addressing essential topics for the qualification of care for the elderly.

Nurse Lara Suzan, one of the instructors, highlighted the importance of the training.
“We talked about physiology in old age, basic health concepts, and vital signs. Measuring blood pressure and blood glucose, for example, are fundamental parameters to identify the next steps and the type of assistance the elderly need,” she explained.

Among the participants, Jéssica Lima, who already works at the Caregivers Support House for the Elderly, emphasized that the course came at an opportune moment. “I already work in the field, but I felt the need to further qualify myself. This experience brought new learnings and will help me provide better care for the people who depend on me,” she said.

The care manager of the Regional Hospital of Tapajós, Carlos Henrique, reinforced the relevance of the initiative for the local population. “This course has a great impact on the community, as it contributes to the training of more prepared caregivers. We had a highly qualified team conducting the modules and we are already organizing the next edition, scheduled to take place in October,” he stated.

With actions like this, the Regional Hospital of Tapajós strengthens its mission to bring knowledge and humanization practices beyond hospital care, promoting health and quality of life for the population.

HRT - The Regional Hospital of Tapajós, managed by the Social Institute Mais Saúde, in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), is a unit belonging to the government of Pará. With 153 beds, including Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal ICUs, the Hospital reinforces its commitment to public health, providing high-quality services to meet the needs of the local population.
