Detranzinho reinforces accident prevention during National Traffic Week
Students from early childhood education learn about safety on public roads

Detranzinho has become a reference in traffic education for children and adolescents. During the National Traffic Week, which runs until this Thursday, the 25th, the educational space is reinforcing its actions. Last Tuesday, the 23rd, it was the turn of the students from the Municipal Early Childhood Education School Canto do Uirapuru, from the Paraíso dos Pássaros neighborhood in Belém, to participate in the playful activities.
A total of 34 children from Kindergarten II, aged 5 to 6 years, learned about safe behavior in traffic in a playful and lively manner. With games, clowns, transit-themed activities, and various educational resources that resemble road signage, the education agents from the State Traffic Department (Detran) teach in a fun way about the basic precautions for protecting life in traffic, including the use of helmets, safe crossing at pedestrian crossings, the meaning of traffic light colors, the use of bike lanes, and seat belts, among other protective factors.

“These children are the future drivers, and who knows, even leaders, who will guide the future of our cities. So, it is an environment of practical teaching, but in a festive way with a lot of interaction and commitment from those who transmit this knowledge. It is a very interesting citizenship class taught by Detran and the State Government,” defined the traffic education coordinator of Detran, Celina Koury.
Through puppet theater and a playful tour of the mini-city, the children received guidance focused on traffic safety, with special emphasis on two fundamental characters: the pedestrian and the cyclist. The excitement took over the children, and the activities are pure fun. The games are mixed with lessons and tips on how to transit responsibly. The goal is to ensure that children take the teachings home and carry them throughout their lives, becoming strong allies of Detran in respecting traffic laws.

Ysis Garcia, 6 years old, listened attentively to the agents' guidance and summarized what she learned in today's class. “You can't run in the street, you have to look carefully to cross. The agent tells us how to do it so nothing happens to our lives. And at the pedestrian crossing, you can only cross when it's red,” she taught.

“Red means stop and green means go at the crosswalk, but you have to raise your hand and wait to cross, otherwise you can get hurt,” explained little Yuri Miguel Garcia, also 6 years old, referring to the pedestrian signage.
The visit from EMEI Canto do Uirapuru to Detranzinho was scheduled at the request of teacher Giovana Guerra, who discovered the space by chance during a licensing appointment. “I was enchanted by Detranzinho from the first moment I saw it and immediately thought our students had to come. Indeed, I was right, this moment here was very educational for them. The school already teaches about traffic, but here it is different because they learn in a playful way, experiencing it practically to replicate at home and in the community,” she highlighted.
The actions of Detranzinho take place year-round by appointment via email at [email protected]. The service is directed to public and private schools throughout the state.
