In New York, Helder Barbalho celebrates the debut of the 'TED House' at COP30 in Belém
Governor aligned unprecedented participation of TED Countdown at UN conference and presented Pará's bioeconomy agenda

On Tuesday (23), the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho, met with Lindsay Levin, leader of TED – the organization responsible for TED Talks – at the institution's office in New York during Climate Week. The meeting discussed the state's opportunities in the bioeconomy agenda, the first Bioeconomy and Innovation Park in the Amazon, the potential of the Bioamazon Valley, and the unprecedented participation of TED Countdown at the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), which will be held in Belém in November.
With over 40 years of history, TED is one of the largest and most recognized global platforms for spreading innovative ideas, famous for hosting TED Talks, a model of short, high-impact lectures for people around the world. TED Countdown, the organization's branch dedicated to climate and nature, focuses its efforts on climate initiatives, promoting workshops and projects aimed at reducing emissions, energy transition, climate justice, and environmental preservation. For the first time, the project will have a 'TED House' at a United Nations climate conference, with programming centered on the Amazon.
“There will be various activities, lectures, and workshops on opportunities and solutions for the Amazon. This is the first time TED Countdown participates in a COP, and this choice is yet another achievement that reinforces the relevance of our Forest COP – the COP of the Amazon and Brazil,” said Helder Barbalho.
The governor also highlighted the importance of strategic alliances. “Partnerships like this allow us to showcase Pará and the Amazon from one of the most important communication platforms on the planet. It is a pleasure to be here at TED,” he said, inviting everyone to be in Belém at COP30.

Lindsay Levin celebrated the collaboration. “We are very excited and proud to be part of COP30 in Belém and to contribute to the beautiful future you are building for your state and for the world.”
