Artran announces rules for tolls and exemption procedures for public agencies
The Regulatory and Control Agency for Public Transport Services highlights who is entitled to the benefit and how to request exemption for leased vehicles

The Regulatory and Control Agency for Public Transport Services (Artran) informs that state, municipal, and federal public agencies, as well as secretariats, autarchies, and foundations, are entitled to toll exemption on the Alça Viária and other state highways under concession.
To ensure the right to exemption correctly, Artran announces the billing rules and the necessary procedures to request the benefit. The billing has been in effect since August 15 and covers the toll plazas:
- Plaza 01 – PA-150, km 52.6 (between Nova Ipixuna and Jacundá);
- Plaza 02 – PA-150, km 112.8 (between Jacundá and Goianésia do Pará);
- Plaza 07 – PA-252, km 31.9 (between Tailândia and Abaetetuba);
- Plaza 08 – Alça Viária, km 22.0 (between Barcarena and Belém).

According to Artran, motorcycles have free passage at all toll plazas, and official vehicles are exempt from toll payment, provided they present plates in the old standard (white background and black characters) or in the Mercosur model (white background and blue characters).
“After the agency is registered, official vehicles must pass through the manual toll booths. At the service, the driver needs to inform that the car belongs to a public agency and indicate which agency it is, so that the team can confirm the plate in the system and allow passage. The automatic turnstiles, in turn, are intended only for vehicles that have a payment TAG,” explained Artran's general director, Luciano Dias.

For vehicles leased by public agencies, the exemption is not automatic. It is necessary for the interested agency to send a formal request to the email [email protected], at least 10 business days in advance of the expected date of use of the highway. The email should have the subject: “Request for Exemption for Leased Vehicles – [Agency Name]”.
The request must include a copy of the vehicle's CRLV, rental contract (when applicable), and a request with the vehicle information (make, model, year, and color), as well as the identification and contact details of the person responsible for the request. In the case of autarchies and public foundations, it is also necessary to attach the legal norm that established the entity or civil registration, when it concerns private law foundations.
“We are attentive to ensure that all public agencies have access to information and can request the exemption simply and within the deadline. This guarantees predictability and organization for those who depend on these highways in their daily lives,” added Luciano Dias.
