Inspection of the Integrated Base 'Antonio Lemos' seizes drugs
3.8 kg of drugs hidden inside a stove were seized
The work of the public security forces operating at the Integrated River Base 'Antônio Lemos', located in the municipality of Breves, resulted in yet another drug seizure this Saturday (20). The drug was found on a vessel heading to the capital of Pará.
The police operation, which began this afternoon, was checking vessels navigating the Tajapuru River, where the Integrated Base is located. During the inspection of the ship 'Amazon Star', originating from Manaus (AM), the agents suspected a cargo.
During the searches, with the use of a sniffer dog, a quantity of packages was located inside a stove, where approximately 3.8 kg of a substance similar to skunk-type marijuana was found.
In light of the above, the drug was seized and is being forwarded to the competent authority for appropriate measures. The Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), Ualame Machado, emphasizes the importance of the strategy of river bases.
'The river bases represent a fundamental pillar in our public security strategy, allowing for a constant and effective presence in river areas. This approach is crucial for combating crimes such as drug trafficking, illegal fishing, and deforestation, protecting riverside communities and preserving the environment. The investment and maintenance of these bases are essential to ensure the safety and well-being of the population of Pará,' he said.
