In Castanhal, the arrival of natural gas will be a strategic action towards a new stage of industrial development

On the route of natural gas expansion in Pará, the city of Castanhal is yet another that shows interest in combining economic development and sustainability. This Thursday (18), the Model City received representatives from the Companhia Gás do Pará (GdP). Paulo Vitor Lisboa, governance and planning manager of GdP, and Bruno Sousa, planning coordinator of the company, participated in a alignment meeting with the municipal administration. In the meeting with the municipal secretary of industry, commerce, and services, Eduardo Espinheiro Júnior, plans for the implementation of natural gas in Castanhal's industries were discussed.

Offering continuous and safe energy supply, natural gas has a lower environmental impact and better cost-effectiveness for customers. In Castanhal, the arrival of natural gas will be a strategic action towards a new stage of industrial development, also serving as an attraction for new investors and strengthening the local economy. “This visit was to prospect industries in Castanhal that can make an energy transition to natural gas, within GdP's planning of 'gas throughout Pará', which follows a determination from Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan,” highlighted Fernando Flexa Ribeiro, president of the Companhia de Gás do Pará.

“It was a wonderful reception. Everyone was interested in participating with us in this construction, in this development and in the implementation, afterwards,” said Paulo Vitor, governance and planning manager of Gás do Pará. “It will be an extraordinary job, both for Castanhal and for Gás do Pará,” he emphasized.

Eduardo Espinheiro Júnior reinforced the interest that several companies in the city have shown in having a natural gas supply. Within 30 days, a new meeting between GdP, the city hall of Castanhal, and representatives of the industries in the municipality should expose the advantages of the transition to natural gas. “There are already interested companies, and after this meeting with the industries, there should be more adherence to the project, especially after everyone gets to know the product,” highlighted the secretary of industry, commerce, and services of Castanhal.

Industrial District of Castanhal - The state government, through the Companhia de Desenvolvimento Econômico do Pará (Codec), and in partnership with the municipal government, is advancing with the project for the implementation of the Industrial District of Castanhal, a milestone for the state, aligning economic development, social inclusion, and strengthening industrial infrastructure. The expectation is that the space will generate R$ 1 billion per year, creating almost ten thousand direct and indirect jobs.

The enterprise is in the environmental licensing phase and already has 82 companies interested in joining. And the arrival of natural gas at the site is expected to boost this adherence. “A vector of development for the park, including for new industries interested in the space. With natural gas, the number of investors interested in the location will certainly increase a lot,” highlighted the governance and planning manager of GdP.
