Military Police and partner entities support the release of 465 turtles on the Alça Viária, near Belém
Partner institutions were called upon to ensure the safety and integrity of the transportation and release of the animals into their natural environment

The Military Police of Pará, through the Environmental Police Battalion (BPA), participated on Thursday (18) in a joint operation with the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) and the Federal Highway Police (PRF) for the release of 465 turtles in the Alça Viária region, near Belém.
The animals were transferred from the Fortaleza Zoo in Ceará after a population overgrowth of the species was confirmed at the location. The action was coordinated by the Amazonian Center for Herpetology, which called upon partner institutions to ensure the safety and integrity of the transportation and release of the animals.

In convoy, the vehicles of the environmental agencies and the Military Police proceeded to km 16 of the Alça Viária, where the animals were released into their natural environment.
According to the Amazonian Center for Herpetology, the procedure contributes to environmental balance and the preservation of native species of the Amazon, in addition to alleviating the pressure of overpopulation recorded at the Ceará zoo.
The commander of the Environmental Police Battalion (BPA), Lieutenant Colonel Fábio Brito, while highlighting the relevance of the initiative, emphasized that the integration between the agencies strengthens the protection of Amazonian biodiversity. "This partnership between the Military Police, Ibama, and PRF is essential to ensure that preservation actions occur safely and effectively. The release of these animals represents not only the defense of the environment but also the commitment of the institutions to work together for the conservation of the Amazon," he stated.
