State University of Pará and Cametá City Hall sign cooperation agreement between the institutions

The partnership aims to strengthen professional training and regional development, benefiting students from Cametá and neighboring municipalities

In a meeting held today, 18th, the rector of the State University of Pará (Uepa), Clay Chagas, and the mayor of Cametá, Victor Cassiano, signed a cooperation agreement between the institutions aimed at establishing partnership and mutual cooperation between the institutions for the operation of undergraduate and graduate courses, when available, offered by Uepa in the municipality.

Clay Chagas highlighted that undergraduate vacancies could be offered through special classes as a result of the agreement. Victor Cassiano pointed out that it is interesting to have training where people can work in Cametá, contributing to the development of the Tocantins Integration Region.

The campus coordinator, Ivete Caldas, and the pro-rector of Management and Planning, who is also acting as vice-rector, Carlos Capela, participated in the solemn moment, along with professors Natácia Silva, director of Extension, and Mônica Maximino, coordinator of the Biomedicine course. On this occasion, the document for the regularization of the land where campus XVIII of the university is located was also signed.

In Cametá, Uepa promotes development and opportunities for training and professional qualification for students from Cametá and the more than 500 communities in the rural area and islands that make up this municipality, as well as adjacent locations, including Mocajuba, Baião, Igarapé-Miri, Abaetetuba, Limoeiro do Ajuru, and Oeiras do Pará.

The courses offered include Food Technology, Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences, Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Bachelor's Degree in Biomedicine, through the Forma Pará program, and Letters-Libras, through the National Teacher Training Program (Parfor). Uepa's activities in Cametá began in March 2005, and the own facilities were inaugurated on March 24, 2009.
