Athletes from Pará win historic medal in footvolley at the Brazilian University Beach Games
Luana Conde and Joice Santiago won the bronze medal in the competition, the first for Pará in a national footvolley event

The footvolley duo from Pará, Luana Conde and Joice Santiago, achieved an unprecedented feat at the largest edition of the Brazilian University Beach Games (JUBs Praia 2025). With the support of the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), the athletes secured the bronze medal in the competition, held from August 31 to September 7, at the Arena Paraíba World Beach Games in João Pessoa (PB). This is the first medal for Pará in a Brazilian footvolley championship.
The tournament, promoted by the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU), brought together 15 pairs from across the country competing for the national title.

Luana Conde emphasized the significance of the result. “I speak with great pride on behalf of women's footvolley from Pará. We won the bronze medal at JUBs Praia in João Pessoa, and this is the first medal in the history of Pará in a Brazilian footvolley championship. This result has a very special flavor because it shows that our state has talent, strength, and warrior women making history on the sand courts. I want to thank the state government for all the support and encouragement. This medal is not just ours; it belongs to all of Pará,” the athlete highlighted.
The State Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Cássio Andrade, congratulated the medalists and highlighted the importance of the achievement. “Seeing Pará on the podium in such a competitive sport as footvolley shows how much we are advancing in university sports and in encouraging young talents. This historic medal is the result of dedication, discipline, and the support that the state government has given to sports in its various modalities. The JUBs Praia is a competition of the highest level, and Pará has shown that it is ready to be among the best in Brazil,” stated the head of Seel.
