Pará registers a 74% drop in robberies in August, the best performance in 15 years
The state records a significant reduction in robberies and thefts, the result of investments and integrated actions
The Government of Pará continues to work hard to reduce crime rates throughout the state. In August 2025, the state achieved a 74% reduction in robbery rates and a 37% reduction in thefts, compared to the same month in 2018.
According to the survey, August 2025 achieved the best result in the robbery rate of the entire historical series since 2010.
Data released this Friday (12) by the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), through the Deputy Secretariat of Intelligence and Criminal Analysis (Siac), indicates that in August of this year, Pará recorded 2,296 robberies and 6,274 thefts. In 2018, in the same month, the state recorded 8,833 robberies and 9,982 thefts. Compared to August of last year - with 2,611 robberies and 7,377 thefts - the analysis shows a reduction of 12% in robberies and 15% in the theft rate.
The trend of reduction, points out the head of Segup, Ualame Machado, reflects the government's commitment to protecting the people of Pará and that investments in technology, intelligence, and the integration of security forces have proven effective.
“It is with great satisfaction that we present the results achieved in public security in Pará. In August 2025, we recorded the lowest robbery rate since 2010, representing a significant reduction of 74% compared to August 2018. This is the best August in 15 years, a historic milestone that demonstrates the success of our security policies,” said Ualame Machado.
Only in robberies, comparing with the months of August 2022 and 2019, the percentages of reduction are significant. Compared to August 2022, with 4,903 cases, and August 2019, with 7,332 occurrences, the reductions are 53.17% and 68.69%, respectively. In relation to thefts, the reduction was 11.38% compared to August 2022, which recorded 7,080 cases, and 37.40% compared to August 2019, which closed with 10,023 thefts.
The Government of Pará has intensified its efforts to combat property crimes by implementing various strategic actions. In 2025, an additional 50 public safety kiosks were installed at strategic points, totaling now 100 devices distributed throughout the state, in addition to the delivery of new vehicles and modernized police stations to strengthen the actions of law enforcement.
Additionally, there are plans to increase the police force with ongoing public competitions, aiming to enhance the presence and response capacity of the state in protecting citizens and their property.
“For the remainder of the year, we envision an even more positive scenario. We will continue to strengthen our actions, focusing on prevention and combating crime, to ensure that Pará is an increasingly safe state for everyone,” concluded Ualame.
