The State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas), through the Environmental Education Coordination (Ceam), held this week the workshop "From Table to Earth: Composting of the Sustainable CCSE" for students of the State University of Pará (Uepa). The activity brought together undergraduate students in Geography and Engineering, teachers, master's and doctoral students, with the aim of encouraging practices for the correct disposal of organic solid waste.

The workshop is part of the CCSE Sustainable university extension project, which seeks to reduce the environmental impact of waste produced by the university restaurant and, at the same time, encourage the creation of initiatives aimed at sustainability both inside and outside the institution.

The workshop is part of Uepa's extension project

Generating change - The Environmental Education coordinator of Semas, Andréia Monteiro, highlighted the importance of the initiative. "The workshop was an opportunity to awaken in students a new way of looking at waste and realizing that small actions can generate big changes. The request for this activity shows the community's concern in seeking solutions. When participants seek knowledge to multiply among the surrounding residents and with other students, we consider it very valid, since the incorrect disposal of waste is one of the major problems we face. It is very significant to see the students' interest in taking this learning beyond the walls of the University, creating projects that engage with society and promote sustainability," explained Andréia Monteiro.

The action reinforces Semas' commitment to supporting initiatives that unite scientific knowledge, environmental education, and sustainable practices, contributing to the formation of multiplying agents committed to environmental preservation.
