Procon Pará inspects hotels in Belém and advises on transparency and services
Guidelines reinforce the availability of information and compliance with the Consumer Protection Code

The State Department of Justice (Seju), through the Directorate of Consumer Protection and Defense (Procon Pará), carried out inspection actions in hotels in Belém from September 9 to 11. The objective was to ensure compliance with consumer rights in the provision of services.
In some hotels, the Procon team filled out guidance forms with recommendations for improvements in specific items, such as the availability of clear information to consumers, including the number of accommodations, the services offered, and the disclosure of prices charged during different periods of the year.
According to Diana Mainieri, manager of analyses and complaints at Procon, the main guidance of the inspection is to ensure transparency, including accessible data on rates. “If there is, for example, an increase in the daily rate between the period of Círio and COP 30, the hotel needs to prove the differential in the service provided to justify this adjustment,” explains Diana.
So far, Procon has not registered any formal complaints of abusive lodging prices. The director of Procon Pará, Gareza Moraes, reminds that if the inspection proves an express irregularity according to the Consumer Protection Code, the hotel is subject to a notice of infraction, ensuring the right to a defense and due process for the accused.
