Representatives from the Gas Company of Pará (GdP) were in Manaus (AM) this week, visiting the facilities and projects of the Gas Company of Amazonas (Cigás), in an exchange of experiences and presentations of the administrative initiatives used by both companies. The expansion of services by the Pará company guided the trip.

The team from Gas of Pará shared knowledge with their hosts, presenting projects and discussing the future of renewable energies in the North region, where the energy transition process is advancing, seeking environmental sustainability and economic productivity.

“It is a work focused on the qualification of our workers. We have been active for less than two years, and it is important to seek knowledge from our sister companies that have been operating for a long time, like Cigás, which has already advanced in several segments where our company will advance in the near future, such as commerce, shopping centers, vehicular and residential gas,” highlights Flexa Ribeiro, CEO of the Gas Company of Pará.

According to Mariana Argollo Arnhold, administrative coordinator of the Gas Company of Pará, the contact is beneficial for both companies. “It was a true exchange experience, as in addition to absorbing good practices, we were also able to contribute to Cigás with some questions they presented,” reveals the Pará collaborator.

“We learned about several systems, including the management and planning system they use, which is directly linked to business strategies and consequently to the product and the people,” points out Elianay Wilkerson, administrative supervisor of the Gas Company of Pará.

The preservation of nature was discussed at the meeting. “Especially regarding the proper disposal of materials and construction waste, selective collection, and special care with batteries, batteries, and obsolete equipment,” says Mariana, who emphasized the importance of the topic and a sustainability policy that ensures administrative and operational practices are aligned with environmental preservation.

The expansion of the user network in Pará and the growth in demand for Natural Gas also demonstrated the importance of investing even more in the sector. “We had an understanding of the customer portfolio and the return from each customer class for their business. In addition, we also had the opportunity to learn about the gas supply network expansion project that aims to significantly increase the average consumption,” points out Elianay.

“We left with the awareness that we need to advance in long-term strategic investments, those that, in addition to bringing immediate gains, consolidate a more modern and sustainable management for the Gas Company of Pará,” reinforces Mariana. “The exchange was so enriching that we believe the next step will be to host the Cigás team at our facilities in Pará. This exchange benefits both sides and strengthens not only the companies but the gas sector as a whole,” guarantees the administrative coordinator of GdP.

In addition to serving the industrial sector, the Natural Gas Distribution System (SDGN) of the Gas Company of Pará will soon also serve the operations of two thermoelectric plants to be inaugurated: the UTE Novo Tempo Barcarena Thermoelectric Complex and the UTE Portocém, which will be one of the largest thermoelectric plants in Brazil, also under construction in Barcarena.
