Governor Helder Barbalho delivered, this Thursday (11), the Sports and Leisure Complex of Parque da Cidade, in Santarém, in western Pará. Resulting from an agreement between the State Government and the Municipal City Hall, the space received an investment of R$ 6.7 million and now offers multiple options for leisure, sports, and community interaction for the entire population. The delivery was attended by the First Lady Daniela Barbalho, Mayor Zé Maria Tapajós, and the President of the State Legislative Assembly, Chicão.

Installed in an area of approximately 3.64 hectares, the Complex features a grass soccer field, a multipurpose court, a sand court for beach sports, a society field, a kids' area with toys, a bike path, a gastronomic space for food trucks, an outdoor gym, a cultural space for capoeira, a pet area, parking, walkways, and modern lighting.

Governor Helder Barbalho emphasized the importance of the new space for the well-being and integration of the Santarém community:

“Today, Santarém receives an important public facility, with the quality that the population deserves. Parque da Cidade is a space where families can meet, practice sports, take care of their health, and enjoy moments of leisure, culture, and community. Santarém, which is already a beautiful city, gains a facility that values the environment, expands leisure options, and strengthens the quality of life of the population. This is a priority of our government: to invest in culture, sports, sustainability, and care for people.”

Community approves the new space

The delivery was attended by authorities and residents, who have already been able to enjoy the new structure. For little Renan de Jesus Simões Rocha, 8 years old, the experience was guaranteed fun. “I had already come here to the park. I really like the toys, they are very good, beautiful, and the paint is great. What I liked the most was that one over there. I went there and thought it was very good.”

Civil Engineering student Julines Oliveira Figueiredo highlighted the transformation brought about by the project. “Before, this was just an empty space, without trees, without structure. Today it is totally different, with a new look. It’s beautiful! Everything is very well done, but what I liked the most was the Kids' Space. It turned out wonderful for the children.”

Entrepreneur Lincoln Ribeiro Filho, owner of Tiffany Pastelaria Gourmet, also celebrated the opportunities that the park opens for the local economy. “This is a great opportunity for the development of local gastronomy. We have exhibitors offering quality products and we want to welcome the public with great care. The park is spectacular, spacious, with facilities for families and children. This is quality of life.”

Other deliveries in progress

During the ceremony, the governor reminded that other important works are in the final phase in the municipality. “We are completing the Polyclinic and the new Maternal-Child Hospital, reaffirming our commitment to the health and well-being of the people of Santarém,” emphasized Helder Barbalho.
