Uepa participates in the Permanent Forum on Security and Defense of Eastern Amazon
The launch event is being held this Thursday in Belém by the Northern Military Command

The State University of Pará (Uepa), along with other Higher Education Institutions (IES) and research institutions, is part of the Permanent Forum on Security and Defense of the Amazon, organized by the Northern Military Command (CMN), whose launch took place today (11).
At the event, held at the Auditorium of the Northern Military Command in Belém, Army General José Ricardo Vendramin Nunes welcomed those present at the opening of the Forum and highlighted the importance of the partnership between military and civilian institutions for the development of defense in the Amazon.
The rector of Uepa, Clay Chagas, emphasized that the university is open to partnering with the military institution, “so that we can increasingly strengthen this effort that has been made for this forum to be long-lasting. As public servants, we need to serve the public, therefore, we need to give back to the population what they invest in us. And this Forum is certainly a way to think about and build a better Amazon and a better State of Pará than we have today.” Clay was also one of the panelists at the event, with the theme “Contributions of COP 30 to the improvement of the quality of life and social mobility of the Amazonian citizen: public policies and improvement of regional public security.”
Professors Matheus Souza and Murilo Mesquita from Uepa's International Relations course were also present with students from the university so they could follow the discussions raised at the Forum, as the event's objective is to awaken, in the universe of undergraduates and postgraduates, interest in studies and strategic themes in a multidisciplinary environment, notably regarding the challenges related to security, defense, and preservation of the Eastern Amazon and to enable a permanent space for inter-institutional articulation in Belém.
In addition to Uepa, the Permanent Forum on Security and Defense of the Eastern Amazon, from the Northern Military Command, also has partnerships with the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), University Center of the State of Pará (Cesupa), University of the Amazon (Unama), Evandro Chagas Institute (IEC), Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Pará (Faepa), and Federation of Industries of the State of Pará (Fiepa).
