Elisa loved participating in the parade

Little Elisa Valentina Scarlett Ferreira da Silva, 7 years old, had already marched at her school in the city of Itaituba, southwest of Pará. But she never imagined she would participate in a very special march at the Dr. Waldemar Penna Regional Hospital of Lower Amazonas (HRBA), in Santarém, West of the State. "I thought it was very cool. I really liked the band," she said.

She was one of eight patients who participated in a civic parade on the morning of this Monday (8), in homage to the Independence of Brazil. Children and adults hospitalized at HRBA, staff, and members of the Percussion Band and Flute Choir of the Antônio Batista Belo de Carvalho State School experienced a special moment, marching in front of the hospital, in the outdoor area of the unit.

"We carried out the action with children from the pediatric clinic and other oncology patients. Just because they are hospitalized doesn’t mean they can’t participate in the parade and show their love for the homeland. It’s a very important moment; we have many patients who have been hospitalized for a long time. So, coming to another environment, getting sun and wind, makes a big difference even for their recovery," highlighted the supervisor of the humanization sector, Karine Campos, who coordinated the action.

For those who participated in the parade, the joy was immense. Mrs. Iderley Messiane Ferreira emphasized how important this initiative was for her daughter Elisa, who has been undergoing treatment at HRBA for a month.

"For her, it was a happiness; it had been a long time since she had seen the sunlight like this. She saw a bit of Santarém; I told her we had come to another city, but she didn’t know what it was like. And so, it was a sensational idea to promote this special moment for the children. The Regional Hospital deserves congratulations. I loved it, ten out of ten," she approved.

Patients got into the spirit of the parade

"Everything was thought out with a lot of care. It’s a very special date for all Brazilian people. We envisioned this civic parade so that our patients could have contact with the reality outside the walls and also as a form of recreation. It’s another humanization action that brings the HRBA’s differential to our patients," concluded the hospital's general director, Matheus Coutinho.

Service - Located in the West of Pará, HRBA is a reference in medium and high complexity, providing 100% referenced services, meeting the demand originating from the State Regulation Center.

The unit belongs to the government of Pará, being managed by the Social Institute Mais Saúde, in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), and is located at Avenida Sérgio Henn, 1100, Diamantino neighborhood, in Santarém.
