With the support of the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), the Pará delegation of Paralympic Jiu-Jitsu achieved a historic feat last Saturday (6), in Salvador (BA), during the Official South American ParaJiu-Jitsu. The seven athletes representing the State won nine medals – four gold, two silver, and three bronze – in addition to the fourth place overall trophy in the competition. This performance also secured qualification for the JJIF World Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025, scheduled for November in Bangkok, Thailand.

The competition brought together over 200 athletes from all over Brazil and South American countries. It was organized by the Bahia Federation of Jiu-Jitsu and MMA (FBJJMMA) and the Brazilian Federation of Paradesport Jiu-Jitsu (FBJJP), with the endorsement of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF) and the World Parajiu Jitsu Federation (WPJJF).

The State Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Cássio Andrade, highlighted the work developed by the state government in favor of valuing paradesport.

"Pará's paralympic sport is experiencing a historic moment. These athletes are examples of overcoming and represent Pará with great determination. The State Government has invested in inclusion and strengthening paradesport, ensuring that our athletes have the necessary conditions to compete on equal opportunities and achieve great accomplishments," said the manager.

The president of the Pará Federation of Fighting and Paradesports (FPLP), Dio Bastos, also celebrated the achievement and emphasized the importance of state support.

"With less than a year of dedicated work by the FPLP, our team returned with an extraordinary result. This achievement is the result of talent, dedication, and collective spirit. And what makes me prouder is knowing that we had full support from the State Government, through Seel, in addition to the structure of the Usina da Paz of Icuí, which was fundamental for this achievement," he highlighted.
