The paving work of the PA-220, known as Transmaú, in the municipality of Maracanã, in northeastern Pará, has been completed and will be delivered to the residents this Saturday (6) at 4 PM. The highway is strategic for northeastern Pará, connecting Curuçá to Vila Maú in Marapanim, and facilitating access to cities such as Magalhães Barata, Igarapé-Açu, and the municipality of Maracanã itself.

In addition to the new asphalt, the services included drainage, sidewalks in urban areas, curbs, earthworks, construction of sub-base and base, as well as horizontal and vertical signage. The goal is to ensure more infrastructure, safety, and mobility for the local population.

The Secretary of Infrastructure and Logistics of Pará, Adler Silveira, highlighted the importance of the delivery. “The paving of the PA-220 represents a milestone for northeastern Pará. With this highway, we consolidate a logistics corridor that brings communities closer, strengthens regional integration, and creates favorable conditions for economic development. It is another example of the commitment of the Government of Pará to works that transform lives and generate progress,” said the secretary.

The expectation among residents is high. Maria das Dores, a housewife living in Maracanã, closely follows the transformation. “We waited a long time for this road. Before, it was dust or mud, depending on the weather. Now it will be a blessing. On Saturday, I will be there to see the delivery up close,” she said, excited.

For those living in neighboring municipalities, the change is also significant. Raimundo Nascimento, a resident of Magalhães Barata, explains that the new highway will facilitate travel to Maracanã. “Before, to get there, it was a huge detour, it took a long time. Now, with the PA-220 ready, it will be much faster. It is an achievement that will improve the lives of many people in the region,” he emphasized.

The work was carried out in two phases. The first had 42 kilometers and connected the junction of PA-136 to PA-395. The second, now completed, added another 12 kilometers, between PA-395 and PA-127. In total, there are 54 kilometers of paving completed on the PA-220 highway.

With the completion, the PA-220 consolidates itself as a fundamental axis of development and integration in northeastern Pará. The new infrastructure will boost the local economy, facilitate the flow of agricultural production, expand access to public services, and encourage tourism throughout the region.
