Four homicide suspects arrested in Tucuruí during Civil Police operation

The Civil Police of Pará, through the Regional Superintendence of the Tucuruí Lake and the Homicide Police Station of Tucuruí, launched the operation "Mercenaries" on the morning of this Friday (05), executing four arrest warrants and five search and seizure warrants against suspects. They will be held accountable for their involvement in a criminal group allegedly involved in contract killings in the region. Four individuals were arrested, two in Tucuruí, one in Marabá, and the other in Goiás. One of the men was also caught in the act for illegal possession of restricted-use ammunition.
The police action was supported by the Tucuruí and Marabá Sections, the Investigation Support Nuclei (NAI) of Tucuruí and Marabá, the Coordination of Operations and Special Resources (CORE), the State Narcotics Division (DENARC), the Homicide Police Station of Marabá, the Superintendence of Marabá, and the Military Police of Goiás.

“The investigation was initiated to clarify the deaths of José Antônio Alves de Souza, which occurred on July 17, 2024, and Bruno Franco de Carvalho, on August 6, 2024. Both crimes exhibited execution characteristics. The victims were shot by two individuals on a motorcycle. The similarity in the modus operandi indicated a probable common author, which directed the investigation,” explained delegate Erivaldo Campelo, head of the Regional Superintendence of the Tucuruí Lake.
The investigations were conducted by the Homicide Police Station of Tucuruí, which utilized various investigative fronts to elucidate the facts. Through the analysis of security camera footage, it was possible to identify the vehicles used to support the executors. As the investigations deepened, the inquiry was able to correlate the suspects to the crimes, as well as identify a workshop that served as a meeting point for planning the criminal actions.

“The investigations revealed that the suspects constituted a stable and permanent criminal nucleus, with indications of operation similar to that of a private militia, specialized in contract killings. We also found that the group is being investigated for participation in other violent crimes that occurred in the city of Tucuruí,” continued the delegate.
The investigations continue for the complete elucidation of the facts. All those arrested were taken to the police station, where standard procedures were carried out, and they are at the disposal of the Judiciary.
