Cultural Foundation of Pará opens exhibition 'Calidez', featuring works by João Genaro, at the Benedito Nunes Gallery
Free exhibition reflects, through art, the impacts of global warming and is open for visitation until October 31, in Belém
The Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP) is holding the opening of the exhibition 'Calidez', by the artist from Minas Gerais, João Genaro, at the Benedito Nunes Gallery in Belém this Friday (5). The vernissage is scheduled for 6 PM, and the exhibition will be open for free visits starting next Monday (8), from 9 AM to 5 PM, until October 31.
With collages, objects, sculptures, and installations, the exhibition proposes a critical and sensitive reflection on the consequences of global warming. The visual proposal was constructed from scientific data organized in artistic language, promoting an experience that unites contemporary art and climate awareness.
Art and science in dialogue
The artist used as a basis information gathered by climatologist Ed Hawkins, a professor at the University of Reading in the UK. The temperature variation data in Brazil from 1922 to 2022 was reinterpreted in visual compositions using warm and cool colors.
"The goal of the work is to playfully clarify the alarming information regarding the warming of Brazil over the last 100 years," explains João Genaro.
Recognition and encouragement for artistic production
The realization of the 'Calidez' exhibition was made possible through the Branco de Melo 2025 Award, granted by the Government of Pará, through the Cultural Foundation of Pará, as part of the policies to promote visual arts in the state.

The president of FCP, Thiago Miranda, emphasized the importance of the award in the artistic scene. "Since its creation in 1986, the Cultural Foundation has among its objectives the preservation, promotion, and dissemination of cultural assets, seeking to encompass the diversity of expressions existing in the various regions of Pará. Among the many promotion actions, the exhibition calls in visual arts at FCP galleries have gained notable strength and visibility, even on a national level," he highlighted.
