This Wednesday, September 3rd, is the date to honor the professionals responsible for studying and protecting life in all its forms: the biologist. At the Institute for Forest Development and Biodiversity of Pará (Ideflor-Bio), these specialists play an essential role, working in various fronts both in the Directorate of Management and Monitoring of Conservation Units (DGMUC) and in the Directorate of Biodiversity Management (DGBio). The work of these professionals directly contributes to the conservation of the Amazon and the promotion of sustainable development in Pará.

The biodiversity manager of Ideflor-Bio, Mônica Furtado, highlighted that her work as a biologist is deeply linked to the mission of conserving the Amazon biome. "The great satisfaction of my work is being able to contribute to the conservation and implementation of greener areas, preserving our biodiversity and valuing the traditional communities that are part of Pará. Biology provides discoveries, research, and science, but also commitment and humanism. I hope that in the future society reflects more and more on the value of fauna, flora, and protected areas, because conserving biodiversity is ensuring life and balance for all," she stated.

Environmental analyst Priscila Fonseca emphasized the diversity of areas in which biologists can work and the importance of multidisciplinary training. "The biologist has various areas of action, from health to biotechnology. At Ideflor-Bio, I had the opportunity to put my knowledge into practice in monitoring conservation units and currently in creating and maintaining biodiversity. This is essential work to ensure that fauna and flora remain alive and strong for future generations," she highlighted.

Also an environmental analyst at the Institute, Lorena Lisboa emphasized how work at Ideflor-Bio reflects not only in environmental results but also in social ones. "Working here has been a transformative experience because I can contribute directly to the conservation and sustainable development of Pará. It is challenging, but very rewarding to see the positive impact on degraded areas, communities, and environmental management. I hope the Institute continues to advance, with more investments and recognition, becoming increasingly a reference in environmental policies," she emphasized.

Action - The work of biologists at Ideflor-Bio is present in multiple activities: from the creation and management of conservation units, monitoring fauna and flora, developing management plans, to educational actions and incentives for the sustainable use of natural resources. In addition, these professionals collaborate in scientific research, species surveys, and programs for the recovery of degraded areas.

This interdisciplinary action makes the biologist a strategic professional to face the socio-environmental challenges of the Amazon. Alongside managers, forest engineers, technicians, and local communities, they help build solutions that reconcile biodiversity conservation and regional development.

Protagonism - The president of Ideflor-Bio, Nilson Pinto, emphasized that the agency celebrates the commitment of its technical team to science, conservation, and the appreciation of life. According to him, more than a profession, biology reaffirms itself as an indispensable vocation for the Amazon and the planet to have a balanced, just, and sustainable future.

"Biologist Day is an opportunity to recognize the dedication of women and men who put their knowledge at the service of the Amazon. At Ideflor-Bio, they are fundamental to ensuring the protection of biodiversity and guiding our actions in a scientific, responsible, and innovative way. We thank each biologist who is part of our team and reaffirm the commitment of the Government of Pará to value this profession, essential for life," said Nilson Pinto.
