Hemopa and Unama hold blood donation campaign in Ananindeua
Action at the BR Campus of Unama, in Ananindeua, brought together students, teachers, and the community in support of strengthening Hemopa's blood stocks.

The Pará Hemotherapy and Hematology Center Foundation (Hemopa) promoted a blood donation campaign on Thursday (28) in partnership with the University of the Amazon (Unama), BR Campus, in Ananindeua, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. The action is part of the Foundation's calendar of external mobilizations and aims to bring the academic community closer to the cause of voluntary blood donation.
The initiative included the setup of a complete structure in the educational institution's space, prepared to receive volunteers with comfort and safety. The room set up on campus was adapted for the entire flow of the procedure, from registration and clinical screening to collection and the snack offered after donation.

Campaigns in educational institutions are strategic for encouraging the participation of young people and university students, reinforcing the importance of solidarity and social engagement. In addition to contributing to the supply of the State's hospital network, these mobilizations help to form a new generation of frequent donors.
Marcela Silva, the social worker from Hemopa's Donor Recruitment Management (Gecad), highlighted the relevance of the partnership with Unama. "This is already the second campaign held in 2025 at the BR Campus, and once again we noticed a strong mobilization from the academic community. Students, staff, and even family members participate voluntarily, aware of the importance of blood donation, based on solidarity, altruism, and love for others," she stated.

For Flávia Silva, a professor in the Biomedicine course at Unama, the mobilization has a direct impact on academic training. "The campaign integrates the semester's routine, and this year students are also acting as recruiters, bringing in donors and understanding the fundamental role of the blood bank in patient care. In addition to raising awareness in the academic community, we opened the doors for local residents to participate," she emphasized.

Student Renata Almeida, a first-time donor, shared her emotions about participating. "The college's mobilization was essential in awakening the importance of this gesture in me. I was able to understand that donation is an act of solidarity that truly saves lives. It was even more special to have my boyfriend donating alongside me. I want this to be just the first of many donations," she said.
The Hemopa Foundation supplies over 200 hospitals, both public and private, in Pará. To maintain safe stock levels, an average of 300 donations per day is needed just in the Metropolitan Region of Belém.
