Civil Police celebrates 46 years of Acadepol with workshop on environmental challenges
The event highlighted the training of public servants, the relationship between environmental crimes and climate change, and reinforced the role of the academy in public safety

On this Thursday (28), the Civil Police of Pará is holding a workshop to celebrate the 46th anniversary of the Police Academy (Acadepol). The meeting focuses on new environmental challenges, in reference to COP-30, which will take place in November in the state capital.
The director of Acadepol, delegate Waldir Freire, emphasizes the importance of training and capacity building for police officers and public safety servants in the state. "The Government of Pará created the Police Academy, founded by delegate Francisco Sales de Carvalho, with the first classes of clerks and investigators."

"Since then, the Academy has trained and prepared police officers and administrative staff, strengthening public safety. This semester, 1,896 police servants and 634 from other institutions were trained, totaling 2,830 people. This result was only possible with the support of the State Government, the Civil Police, its leaders, and all the servants and collaborators. It is an honor to belong to an institution formed by men and women committed to defending society, order, and the law,” adds Waldir Freire.

Among the topics addressed in the workshop, emphasis was placed on the relationship between environmental crimes and climate change, the proposal to update the training curriculum with an emphasis on environmental and public safety themes, as well as the challenges in protecting traditional populations in the Amazon context.
Delegate Carlos André Viana, deputy secretary of Intelligence and Criminal Analysis (SIAC) of the State Public Security Secretariat (Segup), highlighted the improvement of the police academy over the years. "Acadepol has evolved significantly, especially with the largest competition in history, which brought in new police officers and strengthened our capacity to combat crime. Crime evolves rapidly and demands knowledge, updating techniques, and innovation in processes from us. But the most important thing is the professional: motivated, trained, and committed. The true investment of the Civil Police, through Acadepol, is in the training and continuous improvement of its staff,” he emphasizes.

The event, held at the Civil Forum Professor Daniel Coelho de Souza in Belém, started at 8 am and will continue until 3:30 pm, with the ceremony for the delivery of the "Friends of Acadepol" certificates.
The deputy general delegate, Temmer Khayat, reinforces the relevance of the celebration and highlighted the importance of the Police Academy for public safety in Pará. "Acadepol, over its 46 years, has been responsible for preparing generations of professionals committed to upholding the law and justice. This workshop, which connects public safety to environmental and social issues, demonstrates the institution's ability to renew itself and keep up with the challenges of our time. We are proud to have men and women who dedicate themselves daily to protecting lives, ensuring rights, and strengthening citizenship in Pará,” he concludes.
