Music in Museums presents the artistic group from the Carlos Gomes Foundation 'Toccata Brasilis'
Trio of musicians presents a special recital for the Music in Museums edition

This Thursday (28), the artistic group from the Carlos Gomes Foundation Toccata Brasilis will present a recital in the chamber music style at 4 PM, at the Federal Justice Auditorium, on Domingos Marreiros Street, in Umarizal, Belém. The event is free of charge. The chamber music interpretation style will be represented in the recital by an intimate and more interactive performance with the audience and the artists involved.
Toccata Brasilis, which is part of the artistic groups of the Carlos Gomes Foundation, is formed by professors João Pedro Pagliosa (flute), Salatiel Ferreira (clarinet), and Maurício Gomes (guitar). The repertoire will include works by Andor Kovach, Ivanov Basso, and Thiago Perdigão.

During the performance, the audience will be able to enjoy "music that dialogues between pieces from the canonical repertoire and pieces composed for the specific formation of the group," as explained by João Pedro Pagliosa, a member of Toccata Brasilis. "Basically, we opted for a more contemporary aesthetic, although not entirely avant-garde, for this presentation," points out the musician.
Musical Approach
Chamber music has been an effective tool for promoting culture due to its exhibition dynamics, and a means of presenting to the public the work developed in the music courses of the Carlos Gomes State Institute, with recitals held through partnerships of the Music in Museums project with museums and cultural houses in the city.
As flutist and professor João Pedro Pagliosa emphasizes, "chamber music brings greater interaction with the audience and the musicians. So, this closer physical contact, and the possibility of conversing with the audience, allows us to contextualize the works we will interpret, informing beyond entertaining, creating a musical bond," Pagliosa adds.
Audience Development
For Emmanuel Penna, coordinator of Music in Museums, "chamber music, as the name suggests, brings a reciprocal welcome between the audience and artists as it is performed in closed and more intimate spaces, thus creating a special atmosphere that connects everyone present with instrumental music," says Penna.

"This more welcoming characteristic creates a more complete observation regarding music, and allows students and teachers to showcase their talent to the community, generating engagement for future concerts and recitals," the manager concludes.
The Toccata Brasilis trio, since its formation in 2021, has frequently performed in the main artistic spaces of Belém, highlighting its participation in various festivals promoted by the Carlos Gomes Foundation.
The musicians are committed to researching and disseminating original repertoire for the formation of flute, clarinet, and guitar, as well as expanding the repertoire through commissioning new works written by renowned Brazilian composers, such as Edmundo Villani-Côrtes, Ivanov Basso, Thiago Perdigão, Nestor de Hollanda, Cavalcanti, and Dimitri Cervo.
