Government of Pará announces new hours for truck traffic on BR-316

New decree changes the restriction criteria for cargo vehicles, especially for large ones, weighing over 15,000 kg

Vehicles weighing over 15,000 kg cannot circulate from Monday to Friday: from 7 AM to 9 AM and from 6 PM to 8 PM, and on Saturdays, from 7 AM to 9 AM

The Decree No. 4,875/2025 was published on Friday (22), which alters the State Decree No. 15, dated January 31, 2019, establishing new rules for the circulation of cargo vehicles on the BR-316 highway, in the section under state jurisdiction.

The new decree changes the restriction criteria for cargo vehicles, especially large ones. Signed by Governor Helder Barbalho, the new measure aims to organize the flow of vehicles and ensure greater control for safety in the urban perimeter of the highway, especially during peak hours.

"With the progress of the completion of the works of the Metropolitan BRT and in some sections of the highway, the services have already been completed and we have lanes that allow the traffic of all vehicles without compromising fluidity," highlighted Ivan Feitosa, coordinator of inspection at Detran/PA.

Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) equal to or less than 15,000 kg are allowed to circulate without time restrictions. However, according to the new wording of Decree No. 4,875 of August 22, 2025, the entry and circulation of cargo vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) exceeding 15,000 kilograms — including articulated, heavy, trailer, semi-trailer, and multiple types, as defined by ABNT NBR 9762/2012 — with a total length exceeding 14 meters, is prohibited in the section between km 1.7 and km 18 of BR-316/PA.

The prohibition applies to the following hours: Monday to Friday: from 7 AM to 9 AM and from 6 PM to 8 PM, and Saturday: from 7 AM to 9 AM.

The ordinance also clarifies that the restriction does not apply on Saturdays after 9 AM, nor on Sundays and non-extended holidays, remaining valid only during extended holidays.

"We emphasize that the published decree only alters the previous one at these points; however, decree No. 15/2019 of January 31, 2019 remains as established in its subsequent articles," emphasized Feitosa.
