Psychological care welcomes dialysis patients and reinforces comprehensive care at HRPC
Patients undergoing dialysis treatment receive support and emotional assistance during the hemodialysis routine
At the Regional Public Hospital of Caetés (HRPC), in Capanema, the psychology service supports patients undergoing dialysis treatment, offering emotional support and assistance during the hemodialysis routine. The Nephrology department of the unit has 24 machines in operation in the service hall, operating in almost four shifts daily.
The department serves an average of 103 users from 16 municipalities in the region. Between January and July 2025, 2,275 psychological consultations were conducted, reinforcing the hospital's commitment to humanization and comprehensive care, ensuring more quality of life and well-being for users, which resulted in 99.94% user satisfaction in 2025.
Responsible for the psychological department in hemodialysis, Alan Amoras highlighted his experience in the daily routine of the unit. “The experience of working with chronic kidney patients is challenging and, at the same time, rewarding. Each patient carries a story of struggle and overcoming. Our role is to listen, support, and provide tools for them to face this path with more lightness and hope,” explains the clinical psychologist.
Approval - Rosana Cristina dos Santos, 43 years old, a resident of São João de Pirabas, about 70 km from the municipality, a dialysis patient for four months, highlighted her satisfaction with the care received. "The hemodialysis treatment is not easy, but having the support of psychology makes all the difference. Here at the hospital, I feel welcomed, and I can manage my emotions better.”
