Vitória do Xingu hosts a stage of the Open Games of Pará and will have a new Sports Complex
The sports event brought together more than 480 athletes from the Xingu/Tapajós region and marked the signing of the Service Order for the construction of the new structure

The Government of the State of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), held the opening of the seventh stage of the Open Games of Pará (Joapa) on the night of this Thursday (21) in the municipality of Vitória do Xingu, in the Xingu/Tapajós region. The ceremony was also marked by the signing of the Service Order for the construction of the city's Sports Complex, as part of the program "Sports and Leisure Squares throughout Pará."
The stage brings together 486 athletes from the municipalities of Altamira, Placas, Senador José Porfírio, Uruará, and Vitória do Xingu, who compete in six modalities: basketball, futsal, beach soccer, handball, volleyball, and table tennis. The championship strengthens amateur sports and promotes integration among municipalities in the region.
During a live video call, Governor Helder Barbalho highlighted the importance of sports for the youth of Pará.

“It is a pride and a joy to be at the opening of the Open Games of Pará here in Vitória do Xingu. This event values our students, who are talents discovered in sports, and helps to project the name of Pará through sports practice. Congratulations to Vitória do Xingu and all the athletes, I wish success to everyone,” said the governor.
Valuing amateur sports
The ceremony was attended by the State Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Cássio Andrade, the mayor of Vitória do Xingu, Márcio Viana, the vice-mayor Rogério Pereira, the municipal secretary of Sports, Neto Álvares, councilman Anderson Ribeiro, as well as other local authorities.
The head of Seel emphasized the relevance of the event for the sports development of Pará.

“Another stage of the Open Games, which brings together 144 municipalities and promotes integration, culture, and the encouragement of amateur sports. This is an important moment for the development of sports throughout the State,” highlighted the secretary.
In addition to the competition, the delivery of the Efficiency Trophy was also highlighted, awarded to the municipality with the best overall performance in the regional and state stages, as a way to recognize the efforts of the delegations and encourage the pursuit of excellence.
New Sports Complex
The secretary also announced the authorization for the start of the works of the Sports Complex of Vitória do Xingu, which will mark a new moment for the city.

“With the signing of the Service Order, we are starting a phase of structural investments that value sports as a tool for citizenship,” emphasized Cássio Andrade.

The project is part of the program "Sports and Leisure Squares throughout Pará," which provides for the construction of 40 sports complexes in different municipalities. The first phase will cover 20 locations, including Santa Luzia do Pará.
The standard project will include a covered multi-sports court, a synthetic grass soccer field, a sand court for volleyball and other modalities, a skate park, an outdoor gym, a walking track, and kiosks for food and commerce. The works will begin simultaneously in the municipalities covered, with an estimated delivery time of 12 months.
