On this Thursday (21), the penultimate day of the 28th Pan-Amazonian Book Fair and Multivoices, the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho, visited the event at the Hangar Convention Center of the Amazon in Belém. Considered the largest in the Northern Region and the fourth largest in Brazil, the Fair has already received over 300,000 visitors since its opening on Saturday (16).

During the visit, the governor highlighted the presence and prestige of the audience. “We have already had over 300,000 visitors in these days and we still have this Friday for people to come. It is important that we support all the stands, which showcase the richness of their productions, and also that we can encourage more and more so that, through literature and reading, we can generate knowledge,” he emphasized.

Helder Barbalho also emphasized the importance of Credlivro. In addition to encouraging the habit of reading, the governor highlighted that the initiative also aims to contribute to the improvement of pedagogical practices. The program is governed by Law No. 7.775/2023, which establishes the credit deposited once a year, through the Bank of the State of Pará (Banpará), to be used exclusively at the Pan-Amazonian Book Fair and Multivoices.

At the booth of the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult), the governor received the three launches of this 28th edition of the Pan-Amazonian Book Fair: Poesia Reunida, by Wanda Monteiro; Mestre Damasceno e as Cantorias do Marajó, about the honoree Mestre Damasceno; and the relaunch of O Homem Rio: A Saga de Miguel dos Santos Prazeres, by Benedicto Monteiro.

The Fair continues until this Friday at the Hangar

Held by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult), the 28th Pan-Amazonian Book Fair and Multivoices opened to the public on Saturday (16) and continues until this Friday (22), with free entry and programming from 9 am to 10 pm. The expectation is that around 350,000 people will pass through the Hangar during the seven days of the event.

This year, the fair generates around R$ 12 million in business and book sales, creating over 2,000 direct and indirect jobs during the setup, execution, and dismantling. The total area is 10,000 square meters, fully air-conditioned, distributed between Hangar 1 (Event Pavilion) and Hangar 2 (Hall B and Food Court).

There are 189 book stands occupying the Event Pavilion, in addition to nine food stands. The event brings together 400 publishers, either directly or through representation, with the participation of 120 companies, including 32 publishers, 40 bookstores, and 48 distributors, of which 70 are from Pará. The estimate is that there are 90,000 titles available, totaling around 200 tons of books.
