Metropolitan Polyclinic reinforces gynecological care and family planning for women's health
Unit in Belém ensures consultations, exams, and preventive guidance, with specialized care in gynecology and mastology
The Metropolitan Polyclinic of Pará, a reference of the State Government in clinical and surgical specialties, reinforces the importance of preventive care and family planning as pillars of women's health. The unit offers up to 1,400 specialized consultations in gynecology and mastology monthly, in addition to 2,300 diagnostic exams, including ultrasound, mammography, and biopsy, which help in the early detection of diseases such as cervical and breast cancer.
The gynecologist at the Polyclinic, Luiza Duarte Mufarrej Mendonça, emphasizes the importance of the preventive exam, known as PCCU, as essential even when there are no symptoms.
“Regular performance of the PCCU is important because it can diagnose very early changes in cervical problems, which, when treated at the very beginning, do not affect the woman with disease in the future,” she explains. The doctor highlights that the collection should be done annually, unless there is a record of changes in previous exams.
Attentive to warning signs for cervical cancer, Luiza reinforces that “unexpected vaginal bleeding or after sexual intercourse, abnormal vaginal discharge, and abdominal pain associated with urinary or intestinal complaints deserve immediate medical evaluation,” she said.
Planning - In addition to preventive monitoring, the Metropolitan Polyclinic also highlights family planning. “It is a way to offer women and men the right to decide the moment they deem appropriate to have children. This is done by providing contraceptive methods,” explains the gynecologist. According to the professional, the service begins with a consultation, in which the patient is guided about the available options and the method most suitable for their profile.
The services aimed at women's health at the Polyclinic include gynecological consultations, imaging and laboratory exams that assist in the prevention and treatment of pathologies of the female genital tract. The unit also provides care for uterine myomatosis, ovarian cysts, lesions or suspected lesions on the cervix, pelvic inflammatory disease, and climacteric.
Managed by the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA), the Metropolitan Polyclinic serves women of all ages in outpatient and elective cases, except for pregnant women, as it does not have obstetric care.
Service — The first access to the services is made through state regulation. After the appointment, follow-up consultations and exams can be scheduled through the Relationship Center via WhatsApp Business, at the number (91) 98521-5110, or by email at [email protected].
