The Government of the State of Pará, through the State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas), delivered environmental licenses and authorizations on this Friday (15), in addition to signing agreements aimed at strengthening sustainable economic development and infrastructure in Paragominas and the region.

Governor Helder Barbalho highlighted that the event represents a concrete step towards a new cycle of development in Pará.

“Paragominas is already an agricultural hub in Pará, with quality livestock and agriculture capable of producing food with excellence. Now, we are entering a new stage, which is to transform our production, add value, and diversify the productive chains. This means more jobs, more income, and more opportunities for our people. What we are doing here is showing that it is possible to reconcile economic growth with sustainability, using our natural wealth intelligently. This plant, the verticalization of soy, the advancement of fish farming, and the expansion of renewable energy strengthen rural producers, increase Pará's competitiveness, and ensure that the population directly feels the benefits, with more work and development reaching all regions. We want a state that produces more, exports more, and at the same time preserves the environment and improves people's lives,” he stated.

Vice Governor Hana Ghassan emphasized that the investment represents a milestone for the state's future. “We are talking about strategic works to improve logistics, integrate regions, and boost economic and social development. This means more opportunities, income, and quality of life for those who live here,” she stated.

The president of Juparanã Comercial Agrícola, Flávio Carminati, highlighted that the investment will generate 150 direct jobs and process 3,000 tons of soy per day. According to him, the venture marks a significant advance for the agricultural sector in Pará, strengthening both large-scale and family farming.

“From now on, the soy that was previously exported in natura will be processed in Pará itself, generating added value and boosting new productive chains,” he stated. The process will use energy and steam produced from biomass — including açaí seeds — and will result in products such as soy hulls and meal, vegetable oil, and glycerin, inputs for various sectors. With the installation license for the biodiesel plant, the expectation is that the state will approach self-sufficiency in the production of this renewable fuel, in addition to exporting about 85% of the soy meal produced. This logistical and productive integration strengthens the regional economy, generates jobs and income, and positions Pará strategically in the biofuels and animal protein market,” he concluded.

Rural producer José Carminati emphasized that the grant received paves the way for the expansion of fish farming in Paragominas and in Pará. According to him, the state has all the conditions to become the largest fish producer in Brazil, and the municipality can lead this segment in the Pará territory.

“With a favorable climate and an abundance of water, we have the potential to generate food of high nutritional value, jobs, and income, without emitting CO₂ into the atmosphere,” he highlighted. José stressed that environmental licenses are essential for the growth of the sector, advocating that fish farming should be a strategic focus for Pará, leveraging all its economic and environmental potential.

The licenses, grants, and agreements signed complement other investments from the state government to modernize the productive infrastructure of Paragominas, strengthen legal security, and stimulate partnerships between the public sector and private initiative, focusing on a more competitive and environmentally sustainable Pará.
