In less than two months of operation, City Park has received over 670 thousand visitors and has established itself as a new leisure, sports, and culture spot in Belém. The leisure area remains open until this Sunday (17), from 8 am to 10 pm, with 14 recreational and sports options for audiences of all ages. On Monday (18), the space will be handed over to the Federal Government and the United Nations (UN) for the assembly of the temporary modular structures of the negotiation and plenary pavilions of the Blue Zone and the Green Zone of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30) in November.

“Our population has embraced City Park. This reflects how much Belém desires and deserves quality communal spaces, and this is a commitment from the Government of Pará. This facility was envisioned together with the population and, more than an urban project, it has become a place for meeting, exchange, and coexistence. It is just a 'see you later': it will be returned even stronger and more complete after COP30,” says Ursula Vidal, Secretary of State for Culture.

Among the main works that will remain as a legacy of COP30, City Park represents the largest urban intervention in the last 100 years in the capital of Pará. In the 50 days of operation since its opening, the facility has welcomed audiences of all ages for walks, sports practices, and cultural activities promoted by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariats of Culture (Secult) and Sports and Leisure (Seel).

The space offers a wide range of sports and leisure facilities: multipurpose courts, sand courts, and tennis courts, walking paths, bike lanes, skate parks, children's playgrounds, pet areas, kiosks, and food trucks, hydration points, and large green areas. One of the highlights is the Esplanade of Fountains, a water park aimed at children up to 12 years old, featuring interactive toys, water slides, shallow pools, palm tree-shaped buckets, and mushroom-shaped showers. The space has a complete security structure, composed of firefighters, lifeguards, and trained monitors. Accessibility is guaranteed, with the availability of adapted wheelchairs for aquatic use intended for people with disabilities (PwD).

After COP30, City Park in Belém will be reopened to the public with all its facilities, including the buildings for gastronomy and creative economy, which are already in the final stages of construction.
