Workshop at Mangal das Garças teaches children to create sustainable stained glass with recyclable materials
Free activity will take place this Sunday (17), as part of the Ecoarte Project program in Belém
The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Tourism (Setur) and the Social Organization Pará 2000, promotes this Sunday (17), at 9 am, at the Mangal das Garças Zoobotanical Park in Belém, the workshop "Stained Glass of Nature – Sustainable Art." This free action is part of the Ecoarte Project and will stimulate children's creativity through the creation of colorful stained glass using cardboard and cellophane.
Targeted at children, the activity proposes an artistic and educational experience, focusing on environmental appreciation and waste reuse. Inspired by animals and elements of nature, the pieces produced by the children raise ecological awareness by showing that it is possible to transform simple materials into meaningful art.
Environmental education through art
By using cardboard and other materials that would be discarded, the workshop encourages creative reuse, reducing waste and extending the lifespan of materials. The proposal directly engages with themes such as conscious consumption, sustainability, and care for the environment.
“By transforming simple materials into colorful and meaningful pieces, we want to show that every gesture counts in preserving the environment. It is a fun, educational, and inspiring way to rethink consumption and disposal,” highlights Fernanda Scaramuzzini, marketing, communication, and culture coordinator of OS Pará 2000.
Permanent programming of the park
After the workshop, families can enjoy the permanent attractions of Mangal das Garças, such as the José Márcio Ayres Reserve (Butterfly House) and the Amazonian Navigation Memorial. The space also offers a daily program that includes:
