New well in Benjamin Sodré will strengthen supply for about 19 thousand people
The work will strengthen the supply in the neighborhoods of Cabanagem and Parque Verde, ensuring more water security for Belém

The Sanitation Company of Pará (Cosanpa) has started drilling a new deep well in the Benjamin Sodré Water Supply System in Belém. The work will ensure more security and regularity in the water supply for about 19 thousand residents of the neighborhoods of Cabanagem, Parque Verde, Conjunto Benjamin Sodré, the communities of Sideral, Bom Jesus, Bom Futuro, as well as the residential areas of Enéas Resque and Viver Independência.
According to Cosanpa, the new structure became necessary after the deactivation of one of the wells that supplied the region, compromising the system's capacity to serve. Now, with the work underway, the expectation is to significantly improve the supply, especially in areas facing higher demand and population growth.

“Our commitment is to ensure that every resident has access to quality water every day. This new well is a direct response to the needs of the population and the growth of the region, reinforcing the water security of thousands of families. We are investing to make the supply increasingly efficient and reliable,” emphasized the president of Cosanpa, José Fernando de Mendonça Gomes Júnior.
The machines for soil evaluation are already in operation on site. The services began with the excavation and installation of the structural part, a fundamental step to ensure the safety and durability of the well. The drilling will initially reach a depth of 250 meters, with an estimated flow rate between 180 and 200 cubic meters of water per hour, a volume sufficient to increase the service capacity of the entire system.
According to Cosanpa's sanitary engineer, João Diego Nylander, the new well is expected to be operational within this semester, providing more stability and quality in the supply.
“The new structure will be essential to increase the supply capacity. What is expected is that this work will benefit mainly the communities in the neighborhoods of Cabanagem and Parque Verde, which are located near Av. Independência. But all residences served by the Benjamin Sodré Water Supply System will be reached,” emphasized Cosanpa's sanitary engineer, João Diego Nylander.
