State delivers Women's Totem to assist victims of violence at Usipaz in Icuí-Guajará
The specific equipment for the female audience joins the others already installed at the Women's Hospital, at the Usina da Paz in Terra Firme, and at UsiPaz in Castanhal
The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), continues to expand strategic investments to ensure agility in the service and rights of women victims of domestic violence. On the morning of this Tuesday (12), a totem exclusively for women's service was delivered, installed at the Usina da Paz in Icuí-Guajará, in Ananindeua (Metropolitan Region of Belém). The equipment was delivered by Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan.

The governor highlighted the important security strategy by expanding the installation of women's service totems in reference locations for the population, such as the Usinas da Paz.
“Today, we have the opportunity to install this equipment at the Usina da Paz in Icuí. It is another important strategy to combat violence against women. The virtual service totem of the Women's Police Station allows us to care for, assist, and protect the women of our State. Therefore, any woman who is a target of any type of crime can now seek the Usina da Paz in Icuí as well, in a preserved location that protects the complainant, so that she can connect directly with the actions of the Civil Police in combating crime,” said the head of the state executive.

Pará is a pioneer in making available to women equipment aimed at service, guidance, and referral for women, through Channel 197, specifically designed for assisting victims of violence who seek public security help to report or request protective measures.
Technology - Vice Governor Hana Ghassan, one of the biggest supporters of investment in equipment and support strategies for women in the State, reinforces the importance of the totem. “Today we installed equipment that places us alongside the most modern technology available in the market, making it extremely important to use this technology in favor of women,” she stated.

For the head of the Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense, the strategy is essential for women to have guaranteed rights and be assisted by the State. “It is important to expand this service, a way for women to make their reports, including obtaining their protective measures, making the report completely virtually, being guided by our social worker who is at the Usinas da Paz. This is the fourth totem delivered in the State, where women can, by phone, register their occurrence, request protective measures without needing to step into a police station, which often discourages women from making the report due to shame or fear of going to a police unit and being seen. We expand this service so that women are increasingly protected,” emphasized the head of Segup.
Functionality - The totem has help tools, such as in the case of registering an occurrence with a direct link to the Virtual Women's Police Station, and a chatbot, through which the victim can contact the virtual attendant for clarifications and assistance. A telephone central is also available, allowing the victim to speak directly with the attendant of the new channel 197, who can direct her to specialized police stations for assisting victims of violence, and also refer her for protective measures and provide guidance on how to proceed in situations of violence.

“Our work here at the Usina is fundamental, especially in interacting with families seeking services. And now, with the arrival of the totem, it will be important for women to make reports right here, as many of them give up going to the police station because they are afraid to make the report. It will be important because, with the totem, they will continue until the end of the procedure against the aggressor. This equipment will be fundamental for our work dynamics and especially to guarantee the rights of these women,” explained social worker Jocileide Souza.

Protection - “We still expect to deliver the other totems by the end of this year. There will be 15 of these equipment installed, with the possibility of expanding to more, especially in locations where there is a higher demand,” added Ualame Machado.
Currently, Pará has four women's service totems: one at the Women's Hospital, one at the Usina da Paz in Terra Firme, in Belém; one at the Usina da Paz in Castanhal, and now at UsiPaz Icuí-Guajará, in Ananindeua. Another 11 totems are planned for strategic points, such as other Usinas da Paz and the State Secretariat for Women, facilitating access to assistance for victims of domestic violence. The total investment amount is R$ 2 million.
Since the installation of the first totem on March 8 at the Women's Hospital, 12 occurrences have been registered directly through self-service, reinforcing the agility in assisting women victims of violence.
