The Economic Development Company of Pará (Codec), through the Technical Directorate, held a meeting on Monday (11) at the Company's headquarters in Belém with members of the State Highway Police Battalion, linked to the Military Police, and the City Hall of Barcarena to align actions that reinforce safety, organize, and optimize heavy vehicle traffic in the Industrial District.

Participants included the municipal secretary of Public Security, Virgílio Nunes; the municipal secretary of Ports and Logistics, Paulo César Ribeiro; the commander of the Highway Police Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Glauco Mourão de Aquino, and Lieutenant Marcos Vinícius da Rocha. From Codec, the Technical Director, Ruy Klautau, and the district manager of the Metropolitan Area of Belém, Felipe Jorge, were present.

State and municipal governments will join efforts to prevent accidents

The participants mapped the most vulnerable points of the district, identifying areas that require immediate attention to prevent accidents, curb irregularities, and ensure better vehicle circulation. Among the measures evaluated are an educational action with companies and truck drivers; placement of signaling signs; inspection, which after the orientation period may result in fines, and on-site inspection by the Military Police to assess the best way to provide immediate assistance. The possibility of implementing a Highlighted Policing Post (PPD) in the Industrial District was also discussed, based on the analysis of demands.

After this stage, a Technical Cooperation Agreement will be formalized between the Military Highway Police, Codec, and the City Hall of Barcarena, which will allow for the joint execution of the measures.

Safety and new investments - The Industrial District of Barcarena occupies an area of 5,364 hectares, of which 1.2 thousand ha are available for new enterprises. Currently, it has 89 active companies operating in strategic segments such as mineral production, power cables, fertilizers, logistics, fuels, supplies for metallurgy, and civil construction. The improvement in mobility and road safety will directly contribute to the operation of these companies and attract new investments.

The actions will also directly benefit the future Export Processing Zone (ZPE) of Barcarena, which is in the qualification phase by the Federal Government. With safer and more organized road infrastructure, the new industrial hub will have better conditions to receive exporting companies and enhance the logistical competitiveness of the Municipality and the State.

Ruy Klautau emphasized that "the integrated presence of the agencies and the adoption of planned measures allow not only to curb irregularities but also to ensure safer and more organized traffic. With these actions, we strengthen mobility in the District and create a more suitable environment for companies, workers, and the economic development of Barcarena."

The director also highlighted the importance of continuous inspection, stating that "with inspection we can inhibit violations and keep traffic flowing, which is essential for the safety and organization of those circulating in the Industrial District. This will certainly bring direct benefits to the entire region, boosting economic activity and improving the quality of life for the population."

With this planning, the institutions reaffirm their commitment to transforming the Industrial District of Barcarena into a safer, more organized, and functional space, strengthening logistics and attracting new investments.
