At the Coordination of Control of Goods in Transit, of the State Department of Finance (Sefa) of Gurupi, in the municipality of Cachoeira do Piriá, northeastern Pará, bordering Pará and Maranhão, state tax inspectors seized, on Friday (8), a cargo of 7,764 pairs of counterfeit flip-flops and sandals, valued at R$ 387,423.00.

Tax inspectors confirmed the irregularity and seized the cargo

“The truck, coming from Juazeiro do Norte (CE), destined for Belém, Castanhal, Ananindeua (PA), and Macapá (AP) was stopped at the checkpoint. After the start of inspection and delivery of the tax documents, the officials noticed that the cargo was described as ‘various flip-flops and sandals, in a generic way’, not containing brand names, sizes, or models,” informed the coordinator of the tax unit, Gustavo Bozola.

The vehicle was taken to the warehouse, where all items were removed for inspection. “After two days of work to unload and verify the quantity and brands of the products, authenticity reports were requested from the affected companies. There was a positive response regarding the counterfeiting, and the reports were attached to the seizure process,” explained the coordinator.
