In more than a decade of operation, the East Public Regional Hospital (HRPL), in Paragominas, in southeastern Pará, has consolidated its importance not only as a health unit but also as a shelter of hope, rebuilding lives and fulfilling dreams for thousands of families served in the 3rd and 5th Regional Health Centers. Each service has a story, reaffirming the State government's commitment to a more dignified and decentralized public health.

Andreia Silva, 21 years old, is one of the examples of transformative stories experienced at HRPL. After suffering a car accident and fracturing her left leg, she received quick and efficient care at the unit. Andreia highlights the attention and care of the multidisciplinary team, who, with warmth and dedication, made a difference in her recovery.

Andreia emphasized the importance of HRPL for her recovery

“The professionals are excellent! After entering the Hospital, the team marked me deeply, as I was treated like family. The Hospital is a blessing for the lives of citizens in the region. If it weren't for HRPL, I would have gone to another city to receive specialized care, which would have been much more difficult. Here I found care and happiness,” said the student.

She adds that she felt safe and confident during her hospitalization. “Gratitude is the word to describe the feeling of all the people of Paragominas towards the Hospital. I thank from the bottom of my heart for each professional, for the approach, care, and trust they gave me. I am grateful for the comfort that the Regional Hospital provides us,” added Andreia Silva.

Health and Dignity - In this month of celebration of 11 years of operation, the East Public Regional Hospital reaffirms its role in the lives of those who depend on the Unified Health System (SUS). With each service, the unit returns more than health; it returns dignity. For many, access to care enables a new journey.

For Ivete Vaz, Secretary of State for Public Health, “the East Public Regional Hospital is an example of the commitment of the Government of Pará to provide specialized and quality health services in the interior of the State. The more than 163,000 services performed in the first half and the renewal of the ONA II certification show that we are on the right track, ensuring patient safety and efficient management. With the construction of the new building, we will expand the capacity to 158 beds and further integrate the Hospital into the municipal network, strengthening assistance to the population.”

According to André Bordallo, the general director of the Hospital, the East Regional has stood out for offering medium and high complexity assistance, contributing to the transformation of thousands of lives. The unit is a reference in several specialties, such as orthopedics and traumatology, coloproctology, nephrology, neurosurgery, oncological surgery, and oncological gynecology.

Approval - The excellence in care is reflected in the user satisfaction rate, which exceeds 98%, a result of constant investments in quality, safe, and humanized care by the management.

“We celebrate another anniversary of the East Regional. It is a great pride, as under the management of the Instituto Diretrizes, since January 2022, we have consolidated our mission to offer high-quality health services to 23 municipalities in the region. Our commitment to excellence and safety, evidenced by the high satisfaction of users and the maintenance of the ONA II certification, reflects the dedicated work of each collaborator. We look to the future with the goal of continuing to improve our services, offering humanized and quality care to all who depend on the Unified Health System (SUS), confident that our team will continue to make a difference in the lives of the community,” said the general director of HRPL.

In the first half of 2025, HRPL performed 163,145 services and procedures, consolidating itself as one of the main centers of specialized health in the interior of Pará.

Quality - The continuous commitment to quality, safety in care, and the improvement of assistance processes allowed the East Regional Hospital to maintain its certification as Fully Accredited – Level II.

The unit underwent evaluation using the methodology of the Qualisa Institute of Management (IQG), which certified compliance with the standards required by the National Accreditation Organization (ONA) in the areas of patient safety and integrated management, ensuring the renewal of the ONA II certification.

New HRPL - With investment from the state government, a new building of the East Public Regional Hospital is under construction, aiming to expand and strengthen health services in the region. The new unit will have 158 beds, integrating the current Hospital into the municipal health network. The completion of the work is expected in the second half of this year.

In August, all health education actions of the hospital unit will be related to the 11 years, to share the modernization, achievements, and advances made.

The East Public Regional Hospital exclusively serves users of the Unified Health System, coming from 23 municipalities that make up the Metropolitan Health Region III.
