The Government of Pará took another important step to improve mobility in the Metropolitan Region of Belém by signing, this Saturday (9), the Service Order that implements the new public transport system of Santa Bárbara do Pará, a municipality in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. In partnership with the city halls of Belém and Santa Bárbara, the initiative ensures an increase in the fleet and expansion of routes that will facilitate the population's movement. The announcement was made by Vice Governor Hana Ghassan during an event at the Producer's Fair in the urban center, including the arrival of seven buses to strengthen the connection with the capital. The service will start operating this Sunday (10), Father's Day, with integrated service and a single ticket.

“We are delivering buses for Santa Bárbara with a faster and more comfortable connection for the entire Metropolitan Region. With less time in traffic, people will have more time for family and leisure. This is how the state government cares for people, with concrete actions that make a difference in daily life,” said Hana Ghassan.

Ilana da Silva Farias: more comfortable travel

The news was received with enthusiasm by the residents who attended the ceremony. The self-employed Ilana da Silva Farias highlighted that now the wait for the bus will be shorter and the travel more comfortable. “It used to take a long time to get to Belém. Now we will have more structure to move better,” said Ilana.

The farmer Pedro da Silva Oliveira recalled the difficulties faced by the community in traveling by bus. “It took a long time! Now, it will be 30 minutes; before it was two, three hours. It’s a dream I have been waiting to become reality since I moved here in 2005,” he emphasized.

Day of celebration - The mayor of Santa Bárbara do Pará, Marcus Leão Colares (Marcão), highlighted that the delivery meets a demand from the municipal administration. “Today is a day of celebration, the result of a request we made to Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan, which was to improve the public transport service in the region to benefit workers and transport users in the city. Now, the population can expect quality transport in the municipality,” said the municipal manager.

Farmer Pedro da Silva Oliveira: a dream that became reality

The delivery of the buses is part of a package of recent investments made by the Government of Pará. In May, 33 new air-conditioned buses (coolers) were added to the fleet of the Metropolitan Region of Belém, equipped with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, accessibility, security cameras, and LED lighting.

In April, 300 vehicles had already been delivered, marking the largest fleet renewal in the history of the capital. In June, the Vai Passe Fácil app was launched, modernizing the payment of fares and allowing transactions via Pix and the use of QR Code, in addition to future integration with GPS to track the arrival of buses in real-time.
