Dr. Roberto Macedo Emergency Room Brings Together Parents and Hospitalized Children in Interactive Program
Accounts of personal stories led to moments of emotion, alternating tears and smiles, which are important for emotional stability in the hospital environment
The Dr. Roberto Macedo Emergency Room (PSRM), in Belém, held an event on the afternoon of this Friday (8) in honor of Father's Day, celebrated next Sunday (10), bringing together patients from the Adult Inpatient Unit and companions from the Pediatric Inpatient Unit. The initiative, promoted by the Hospital Humanization Committee in partnership with the physiotherapy team, resulted in a moment of relaxation, alternating smiles and tears of emotion during the sharing of stories involving fatherhood.

Jairo Sacramento Pinheiro, a resident of the municipality of Igarapé-Miri, in the Tocantins integration region, father of the patient Mikael Correia Pinheiro, described the celebration as an opportunity to express his joy. “I have been accompanying my son, who has been hospitalized here for over a month, and today I had the opportunity to participate in the activity that the hospital organized especially for us, where I spoke about my great satisfaction in being Mikael's father. I really liked it, as it was a way for the hospital to ensure we could celebrate the date, even while being away from home. I found it very important that they remembered us,” highlighted the companion.

Humanization - According to the Humanization analyst at PSRM, sociologist Watuzi Rebelo da Silva, Father's Day is a special date that deserves to be celebrated with patients, especially when they are facing a hospital stay. “Such a symbolic and special date could not go unnoticed. We promoted a dynamic with prizes that, in addition to celebrating a very important date, contributed to the humanization of treatment. The activity served as a tool that provided support to patients who will be away from their children and family next Sunday,” said the analyst.
“Social interaction improves the emotional state of patients, giving them an active role in their own recovery, encouraging them to move and interact, which benefits both physical and mental health, reinforcing our Emergency Room's commitment to comprehensive care that values the individual as a whole, not just their illness,” added Watuzi Rebelo.
