Focusing on the continuous qualification of the assistance provided to victims in vulnerable situations, the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), held another edition of training for public security agents and the protection network. The training, promoted by the Directorate of Public Policies and Social Prevention (DPS), served 42 public servants between August 7 and 8, at the 3rd Military Fire Brigade in Ananindeua, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém.

Professionals from the Military Police, Civil Police, Military Fire Brigade, Penitentiary Administration Secretariat (Seap), as well as representatives from municipal secretariats of citizenship, education, and social assistance, the Casa da Mulher Brasileira, and the Centro Pop Ananindeua participated in the training.

Investment in training and reception

The Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado, highlighted that the training reinforces the State's commitment to protecting victims and improving public service.

“Training our public servants is a crucial step to ensure that Pará's public security system is prepared to excellently serve the most vulnerable groups. By investing in the continuous training of our agents and the protection network, we are strengthening the state government's commitment to protect and support victims of violence, ensuring they receive the necessary support to overcome their difficulties,” emphasized the head of Segup.

Content focused on practice and integration

The course program covered topics such as the history of violence, human rights, causes and types of crimes, as well as specific legislation, highlighting the Maria da Penha Law and the Femicide Law. The proposal is to promote technical knowledge and strengthen the articulation between the agencies that work in assisting victims of violence, especially women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and the homeless population.

For psychologist Kezia Santos, who works at the Casa da Mulher Brasileira, the training allowed for a broader understanding of the role of each institution.

“Even having contact with the Women's Police Station and the Military Police, I did not imagine how much more I could learn about the flow and operation of the Fire Brigade and other agencies. It is a dialogue that needs to be increasingly strengthened, with connection between teams and sectors, so that we can have effectiveness in performing our role,” she assessed.

Preparation of new agents

Corporal Josué, from the Military Fire Brigade and instructor at the Institute of Public Security Education (Iesp), reinforced the importance of training also in the formation of future military personnel.

“The course is essential to clarify doubts, create connections between security forces, and expand knowledge about assisting victims in vulnerable situations. Knowing the role of each agency is fundamental to ensure that we can guide and welcome in the best possible way,” he explained.

Upcoming classes

This was the fourth class of 2025. The next stage of training will take place in the municipalities of Moju and Santa Izabel, by the end of August, continuing the process of strengthening the social protection network and the integrated action of public agents in the State.
