Government of Pará advances with the modernization of Citizenship Stations in Icoaraci, Guamá, and Santarém
State works are part of the strategy to modernize the citizen service network
With the aim of expanding the population's access to essential public services in an integrated, accessible, and humanized manner, the Government of Pará is advancing with the restructuring works of the Citizenship Stations in Icoaraci and Guamá, located in Belém, and in Santarém, in the western part of the state. The works are coordinated by the State Secretariat for Planning and Administration (Seplad) and are part of the strategy to modernize the citizen service network.
The Citizenship Stations function as spaces that bring together, in one place, various municipal, state, federal agencies, and partner entities. The focus is to facilitate the user's life, reducing travel time, costs, and bureaucracies in the provision of services, such as document issuance, social security assistance, legal guidance, among others.
Safer and more accessible public spaces
“With these works, the Government of Pará reaffirms its commitment to strengthening citizenship and social inclusion, ensuring that the population, especially from the most remote areas of urban centers, can count on safe, accessible, and efficient public spaces,” says Gabriel Perez, deputy secretary of Modernization and Administrative Management at Seplad.
The secretary adds: "The restructuring of the Citizenship Stations is one of the fronts of the public service modernization policy, seeking to reduce inequalities in access to basic rights. We believe that providing quality service is also a way to value the citizen. The Citizenship Stations are gateways to services that positively impact people's lives. Improving these spaces is investing in dignity and respect.”
Agile service and greater comfort
At the Icoaraci unit in Belém, the works are already 28% complete, and include electrical installations necessary to update and ensure the safety of the building's electrical network. There is also the reconstruction of the internal parking lot, the expansion of the service area, and the installation of new ceilings, floor replacements, and complete restructuring of the bathrooms.
At the Guamá unit in Belém, the works have reached 50% completion, which includes everything from engineering projects and initial services to roof replacement, demolitions, and structural removals, as well as the installation of new electrical, hydraulic, sewage, and logical network systems.
In Santarém, in western Pará, the services at the Station have reached 37% completion. The work began with the development of engineering projects and is already in the demolition phase and removal of old structures, in addition to waterproofing the water tank and restructuring the building's roof. Work is also underway to readjust the electrical, hydraulic, and sewage installations, focusing on the efficiency and sustainability of operations.
Miguel Lima, a motorcycle taxi driver, says that he has needed the Citizenship Station in Icoaraci several times. "The ease of access to services helps, makes our lives easier, and the modernization of the space will be more comfortable for all of us.”
The Citizenship Station in Icoaraci performs an average of 4,000 services per month, a number similar to that recorded by the Guamá unit. In turn, the Citizenship Station in Santarém accounts for about 3,000 monthly services.
*In Guamá, the market vendor Anderson Nascimento said that he has needed the services at the Citizenship Station several times. "Currently, the place is undergoing renovations, but it has always been a fundamental support point, offering essential services to community residents, such as document issuance and assistance with water and electricity issues, among others. We are looking forward to the completion of this work, as it greatly facilitates access to services.”
Delson Rodrigues is an app driver in Santarém and praises the modernization work. "This work is of utmost importance for Santarém and for our region, which depends on the services of the Citizenship Station. I believe that the new building will be modern, representing progress for the city," he said.
"I think the location is excellent, as the buses serving the interior pass nearby. Additionally, for those coming from the riverside area, access is also facilitated, as the boats dock in Santarém. Thus, people who need the services of the Station have fewer difficulties in resolving their personal issues. The state government deserves congratulations for promoting this improvement in the building and the space, adding value to the services provided and to the citizens of Santarém,” noted the driver.
Services and partners
At the Citizenship Stations, the population has access to services such as: issuance of identity cards (RG); consultation of income tax refunds; reception and analysis of processes; CNH service (first license, category change, jurisdiction change, legislation, biometrics, and renewal); issuance of CRV, CRLV, and digital documents; unemployment insurance; issuance of digital work cards; procedural consultation; guidance and protection of consumer rights, analysis of socioeconomic vulnerability, banking services, among others.
Among the main agencies present at the Citizenship Stations are the Department of Transit of the State of Pará (Detran), the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Labor, Employment, and Income of Pará (Seaster), Civil Police (PC), Public Defender's Office of the State of Pará (DPE), Banpará, Commercial Registry of the State of Pará (Jucepa), Federal Revenue, Institute of Assistance for State Servants of Pará (Iasep), among others.
For Delson Rodrigues, app driver, the modernization work of the space represents not only improvements in the service provided to the population but also progress.
During the construction period, the Icoaraci and Guamá units are temporarily closed to the public to ensure user safety. During this construction period, citizens can go to the other Citizenship Station units located in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. In Santarém, services continue to be provided, temporarily, at the upper levels of the Joaquim da Costa Pereira Hydroviary Terminal, located at Rua Araguarina, s/n, in the Prainha neighborhood.
