Government of Pará removes the barriers from blocks B and G of Nova Tamandaré
Progress of the COP30 works prepares the city to receive new public spaces and urban improvements

Those passing through the perimeter of Dr. Assis and Dr. Malcher streets and the 16 de Novembro and São Francisco alleys, in the Campina neighborhood of Belém, can now see up close two more sections of Nova Tamandaré, which is 90% complete. The Government of Pará has removed the barriers from blocks B and G of the Linear Park, one of the structural interventions of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), which will take place in the capital of Pará in November.
“The work is progressing on schedule, and it is now time for two more blocks to have their barriers removed, ensuring that the population can closely follow the progress of the services. The Linear Park of Nova Tamandaré will be a contemplative and converging space for the residents of Belém and the visitors of COP30,” highlights the Deputy Secretary of Public Works of Pará, Gilmar Mota.

Blocks B and G feature bike lanes, landscaping, trash bins, urbanization, and new asphalt. Block G also has an amphitheater, two pergolas, and urban furniture such as tables, benches, and bike racks, offering options for leisure and contemplation. In addition to these, four other areas of the Linear Park have already had their barriers removed: block I (between Padre Eutíquio and São Pedro alleys), block H (between São Pedro and São Francisco alleys), and blocks C and E (between Dr. Malcher and Ângelo Custódio streets).
Infrastructure - The works of the Linear Park encompass the entire length of the Tamandaré Avenue Canal, approximately 1.4 kilometers, and include asphalt paving, landscaping, urbanization, installation of walkways, and five new sluices to control tidal flow. The services also include the urbanization of Praça Onze de Junho and the construction of Praça do Terminal, which will integrate with the New Tamandaré Hydroviário Terminal, currently under construction.

The location will consist of communal spaces such as kiosks, contemplative areas and event spaces, bike lanes, playgrounds, pet areas, and outdoor gyms. Additionally, 78 trees will be planted along its nine blocks, which will help reduce the risk of flooding by absorbing part of the rainwater. The project aims to integrate the canal with the city, reclaiming the importance of Tamandaré Avenue for the population.
Sewage
Nova Tamandaré is also receiving sanitation interventions that will ensure the proper collection of sewage from properties located around the canal in the Campina neighborhood.

Executed by the State Secretariat of Public Works of Pará (Seop), this stage is currently 53% complete. Services include the installation of a collection network, setting up inspection wells, executing household branches, demolition and reconstruction of asphalt pavement, as well as the construction of a Sewage Treatment Station and pumping stations for Sewage and Stormwater.
