Marabá wins the Efficiency Trophy at the 6th stage of the Open Games of Pará

The Carajás regional gathered more than 230 athletes in Parauapebas, with competitions in four sports.

The Government of the State of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), concluded this Sunday (3) the 6th stage of the Open Games of Pará (Joapa), in the Carajás regional, with the Marabá delegation winning the Efficiency Trophy, the main award of the stage, after accumulating 51 points in the competitions. The sports event took place in the municipality of Parauapebas, in southeastern Pará, from August 1st to 3rd.

Marabá stood out in basketball, futsal, volleyball, and table tennis. In second place in the overall ranking was Parauapebas, with 41 points, followed by Canaã dos Carajás, which accumulated 31 points and secured third place.

In total, the regional gathered about 232 athletes from the three participating municipalities. The Efficiency Trophy is awarded to the delegation with the best overall performance in the accumulation of points in the competition.

Valuing sports and integration

The head of Seel, Cássio Andrade, reinforced the role of the Open Games in promoting sports and citizenship. “It is a beautiful competition that brings together athletes from various municipalities. This social integration and the promotion of sports are fundamental. The Joapa is the largest sports competition in Pará and encompasses all 144 municipalities. I congratulate all the delegations that participated in this regional stage,” said the secretary.

Athlete Luiza Cheim highlighted the achievement of the volleyball team

Representing Marabá, young Luiza Cheim, 18 years old, a volleyball athlete, celebrated the achievement of the gold medal and the overall title. “It was a very important victory. All the girls worked as a team, gave their best. We trained the entire month of July. Marabá has an excellent range of athletes. It was my first participation and we already achieved this title. I am very happy and I think the competition tends to improve every year,” she declared.

Next stage - The 7th regional of the Open Games of Pará will be held in the municipality of Vitória do Xingu, from August 21 to 24. The competition continues with the aim of promoting amateur sports, strengthening community ties, and valuing local sports talents throughout the Pará territory.
