The Galileu State Public Hospital (HPEG), located in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, performed a total of 103,288 attendances between January and June 2025. The number includes medical consultations, surgical procedures, high-complexity exams, and multidisciplinary care, ensuring comprehensive and quality assistance to the population.

During this period, 5,014 medical consultations, 1,425 surgeries, and 2,185 surgical procedures were recorded. Multidisciplinary assistance also stood out, with 17,225 physiotherapy sessions, 2,600 speech therapy attendances, 5,214 in psychology, and 1,394 in occupational therapy. The social service accounted for 24,002 attendances, while the outpatient and diagnostic sectors performed 682 procedures and 43,547 laboratory and imaging exams.

The acting state health secretary (Sespa), Edney Pereira, highlighted that the numbers reflect the commitment of the Government of Pará to hospital assistance. "This result shows that we are on the right track, with efficient, humanized management committed to saving lives," said the manager.

Reference in orthopedics

Recognized as a reference in orthopedics in Pará, Galileu Hospital specializes in medium and high-complexity care. The unit performs advanced procedures such as arthroscopies, reconstructions, and bone lengthening, in addition to other specialized interventions that favor the rehabilitation and functional recovery of patients — reinforcing its strategic role in the hospital network of the region.

Paula Jaredde, the unit's care manager, emphasizes that the hospital's performance highlights its importance for state public health. "In just the first six months, we performed over 3,600 surgeries and procedures, a large part focused on complex orthopedic cases. This result reflects not only the technical excellence of the team but also the humanized care that guides our work," she highlighted.

In addition to orthopedics, the hospital also stands out in the area of urology, providing outpatient consultations and high-complexity surgeries. This diversified performance consolidates the unit as a reference center in multiple specialties, expanding the population's access to specialized treatments and reinforcing its strategic role in the public health system of Pará.

"Our goal is to ensure that the patient has access to specialized and safe care, whether for orthopedic or urological cases. We work to make the person who arrives here feel that they are in good hands and can resume their life with dignity," concluded Paula.

Teamwork
The hospital's executive director, Cledes Silva, emphasized that the achievement of the results is the result of the integrated work of the entire team. "This result is possible thanks to the joint effort of care professionals, support staff, administrative personnel, and doctors, who are dedicated to providing humanized and high-quality care," he highlighted.

Cledes also reinforced that the collaborative environment among the sectors is one of the pillars of the institution's success. "When each area understands its role and acts in an articulated manner, the patient perceives this in the care they receive. From reception to the surgical center, from the multidisciplinary team to the administrative sector, everyone is committed to the same mission: to save lives and restore hope to patients and their families," he added.

Service: The Galileu State Public Hospital, managed by the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), has 104 inpatient beds and offers specialized services such as bone reconstruction and lengthening, trachea surgeries, and urological surgeries — including treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia, renal exclusion, and screening with prostate biopsy.
